UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The UConn Hockey team finished the weekend series in Penn State unbeaten as they finished with a 1-1 tie in game two ending the weekend with a 1-0-1 record. Sophomore Brooke Campbell scored the lone goal for the Huskies and Tia Chan finished with 39 saves.

Penn State came out of the gate firing looking to avenge last night's 2-0 loss to the Huskies, but junior goaltender Tia Chan stayed weathering the early attack from the Nittany Lions. The Huskies found the back of the net first as graduate student Coryn Tormala sliced through the Penn State defense, and found sophomore Brooke Campbell all alone at the side of the net for the easy tip in. The Huskies defense held strong the rest of the first period and entered the break leading by one.

Penn State had an opportunity to tie in the second period as a delayed penalty on the Huskies gave the Nittany Lions the extra attacker, and with the extra skater Penn State found the back of the net. Following a review, it was found the Huskies skater touched the puck before the goal, resulting in the goal being waved off and Penn State going on the power play. UConn's penalty kill was once again successful, and UConn was able to head into the third period leading by one.

In the third period, the Penn State attack was on full display as the Nittany Lions were fighting to even the score. The game eventually became tied as Alyssa Machado rifled a shot over the blocker of Tia Chan. Both teams were unable to find the game winner in regulation, resulting in the game heading to a three-on-three winner take all overtime period.

In the overtime period, the netminders skills for both teams were on display as both teams were battling for the extra point. UConn's best chance of the night came with one minute remaining in the overtime when a Penn State penalty gave them the man advantage. The Huskies had multiple looks, but strong defense by the Nittany Lions kept the score tied. Penn State's Josie Bothun finished the game with 17 saves while junior Tia Chan finished with 39.

The Huskies will have a week off before returning to play with a home and home series against Hockey East rival Boston College beginning October 13. Both games can be streamed live on ESPN+.
