HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
#2 Boston College began its 2019-20 regular season title defense with a pair of victories over #7 Massachusetts. Matt Boldy (Millis, Mass.) led the Eagles with four points on one goal and three assists. He netted the game-winning goal in the third period on Friday night at home to break a 3-3 tie before dishing out two primary assists in Saturday’s 6-3 victory. Boldy was also named to USA Hockey’s preliminary roster for the 2021 World Junior Championship on Monday afternoon.
Eagles rookie Colby Ambrosio (Welland, Ont.) registered the first two points of his collegiate career, setting up Boldy’s game-winning goal on Friday before netting his first NCAA goal on Saturday. He led the league with nine shots on net and was a plus-three on the weekend.
USA Hockey announced the preliminary roster for the 2021 World Junior Championship Monday afternoon. Of the 29 players invited to the first training camp, 10 of the players are currently skating in Hockey East. Those players include Boston College’s Boldy, Drew Helleson, and Spencer Knight, Boston University’s Drew Commesso, Robert Mastrosimone, and Alex Vlasic, Northeastern’s Sam Colangelo, and Providence’s Brett Berard, Cam McDonald, and Patrick Moynihan.

this week.
