HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

#5 Boston College toppled Vermont, 8-3, on Saturday, winning its 10th consecutive game dating back to November 2, 2019. The Eagles are the first Hockey East team to win at least 10 games in a row since Northeastern won 13 straight from Feb. 8 - March 19, 2016. Ron Greco (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted his first career hat trick in the victory.

#14 Providence claimed victory in the inaugural Fortress Invitational title against two top-20 teams. In Friday's opener, three different players scored for the Friars in a 3-1 victory over #20 Army West Point, setting up a date with #2 Cornell for the championship crown. Michael Lackey (Washington, D.C.) stopped 27 shots in that contest, an official 1-1 tie, and denied all three shootout attempts from the Big Red to secure victory.

New Hampshire sophomore netminder Ty Taylor (Richmond, B.C.) earned two wins against ECAC foes, allowing just two goals on 48 shots. The Wildcats improved to 7-1-0 at home this year, the best home start for UNH in eight seasons (2012-13) when the Wildcats also started 7-1-0.

Maine went unbeaten against Omaha, emerging with a 1-0-1 record. Tim Doherty (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored both of Maine's goals in a 2-2 Friday night tie with the Mavericks and added two helpers in a 3-2 Saturday night victory over UNO. Doherty's second assist came on the game-winning goal in the noon matinee contest in Portland, Maine in front of 3,900 fans.

#13 UMass Lowell picked up a 3-1 victory at Merrimack on Saturday as the game-winning goal game from freshman Andre Lee (Karlstad, Sweden).Lee led all league freshmen in points, one power-play assists, power-play points and game-winning goals last week.

#12 Northeastern has now won seven of its last eight games after a 5-2 win at UConn on Friday. Zach Solow (Naples, Fla.) led the team with two goals, his third consecutive multi-point outing and fifth on the season. He pushed his current active point streak to a career-high eight games (7g, 7a.) Through Northeastern's first 19 games, Solow leads in the conference in overall faceoff wins with 212.

Ron Greco - Boston College

Ron Greco (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted his first career hat trick on Saturday in an 8-3 win over Vermont, extending BC's nation-best winning streak to 10 games. Greco added an assist for a career-high four points and finished the contest plus-three. The senior also picked up the game-winner in his second career multigoal game.

Tim Doherty - Maine

Tim Doherty (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored both of Maine's goals in a 2-2 Friday night tie with Omaha and added two helpers in a 3-2 Saturday night victory over UNO. Doherty's second assist came on the game-winning goal over the Mavericks.

Andre Lee - UMass Lowell

Andre Lee (Karlstad, Sweden) picked up a game-best two points on (1g, 1a) in a 3-1 win at Merrimack on Saturday, including netting the decisive tally. Lee led all league freshmen in points, one power-play assists, power-play points and game-winning goals last week.

Ty Taylor - New Hampshire

Ty Taylor (Richmond, B.C.) went 2-0-0 on the week allowing only two goals with a 1.00 goals against average and a .958 save percentage. He made 46 saves on 48 shots. Taylor recorded a career-best 28 saves on Friday in the 4-1 win versus Yale, while he made 18 saves on Saturday in the 5-1 win versus Brown. Taylor is 5-0-0 this season with a 1.98 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.

Michael Lackey - Providence

Michael Lackey (GS., G; Washington, D.C.) stopped 49 of 52 shots he faced in the Fortress Invitational against #20 Army and #2 Cornell, backboning the Friars to the tournament victory. Lackey denied all three shootout attempts from the Big Red in the title game to bring home the trophy to Providence.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Marc McLaughlin, BC (So., F; North Billerica, Mass.) Registered a career-high four points on a goal and three assists in an 8-3 league victory against Vermont on Saturday afternoon. The sophomore assisted on the game-winning goal, won eight of his 13 faceoffs, and finished the game plus-three.

Ben Finkelstein, BC (Sr., D; South Burlington, Vt.) Dished out a career-best three assists in Saturday's 8-3 win over Vermont.

Patrick Curry, BU (Sr. F; Schaumburg, Ill.) Netted the game-tying goal with 4:35 left to play in an eventual 4-3 exhibition shootout win against the U.S. National Under-18 Team.

Wilmer Skoog, BU (Fr., F; Tyresö, Sweden) Set up classmate Ethan Phillips' goal and scored in the shootout to lead the Terriers to a 4-3 shootout win against the U.S. National Under-18 Team.

Alex Vlasic, BU (Fr., D; Wilmette, Ill.) Assisted on Alex Brink's goal and was a team-high plus-two in BU's exhibition contest against the U.S. National Under-18 Team.

Tyler Wall, UML (Sr., G; Leamington, Ont.) Wall stopped 24 of 25 shots for a .960 save percentage in a 3-1 road win at Merrimack on Saturday. The win was Wall's 51st career victory, tying Dwayne Roloson's Division I school record.

Patrick Grasso, UNH (Jr., F; Ankeny, Iowa) Scored three goals to help UNH to a 2-0-0 week against a pair of ECAC rivals. He scored a goal in the 4-1 win over Yale on Friday before potting two tallies in a 5-1 victory over Brown the next day. Grasso now has seven goals and six assists for 13 points this season. He has appeared in 100 career games with 36 goals and 35 assists for 71 career points.
