HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

#3 Massachusetts swept #10 Northeastern in a home-and-home battle of the reigning Hockey East champions. John Leonard (Amherst, Mass.) led the Minutemen with a pair of multi-goal games, scoring four goals on eight shots, including a power- play goal and a game winner, and became the first player in UMass' Division I history to post three straight multi-goal games.

Maine earned three of four points from Boston University in a key Hockey East series in Orono. Rookie Ben Poisson (Vancouver, B.C.) scored his first goal and recorded his first assist in a Black Bears' uniform on Friday night in a 4-2 win. For the Terriers, Matthew Quercia (Andover, Mass.) tallied four points (1g, 3a) and a plus-two rating in a weekend series at Maine. He scored the game-tying goal in a 2-2 draw on Saturday, securing back-to-back multi-points games for the first time in his career.

New Hampshire claimed victory in a pair of overtime wins against #15 Boston College and Dartmouth. Sophomore Angus Crookshank (North Vancouver, B.C.) posted three goals and one assist, including game-winning overtime goal in Friday's 1-0 win over the Eagles. Junior defenseman Max Gildon (Plano, Texas) dished out four assists, including setting up both extra-frame strikes for the Wildcats.

Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) was the lone league netminder to earn two victories last weekend, backstopping his River Hawks to a road sweep of Vermont with 70 saves on 74 shots. Wall earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and has now been so honored in three of the last four weeks.

UConn and Merrimack split a two-game series, trading scores of 3-2 in a homeand- home. The Huskies' Jachym Kondelik (Budejovice, Czech Republic) Had a three-point (2g, 1a) weekend, including his first career multi-goal game to lead the Huskies to a 3-2 win at Merrimack on Friday.

Angus Crookshank - New Hampshire

Angus Crookshank (So., F; North Vancouver, B.C.) posted three goals and one assist for four points as the Wildcats went 2-0-0 on the week. He scored the game-winning overtime goal versus then-#15 Boston College on Friday, while he tallied two goals and one assist as New Hampshire defeated the Big Green on Saturday, 5-4, in overtime.


John Leonard - Massachusetts

John Leonard (Jr., F; Amherst, Mass.) led the Minutemen to a weekend sweep of then-#10 Northeastern with a pair of multi-goal games, scoring four goals on eight shots, including a power-play goal and a game winner, and became the first player in UMass' Division I history to post three straight multi-goal games. Leonard also won 16 of 28 faceoffs. The junior is currently tied for second in the nation with seven goals.

Ben Poisson - Maine

Ben Poisson (Vancouver, B.C.) scored his first goal and recorded his first assist in a Black Bears' uniform on Friday night. His two points helped Maine defeat Boston University, 4-2, as the Black Bears earned three out of four league points over the Terriers.

Tyler Wall - UMass Lowell

Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) picks up his second straight DPOW award as he was the lone league goaltender with two wins last weekend, winning twice on the road at Vermont. He stopped 70 of 74 shots (.946 SV%) with a 2.00 GAA. He tied his career-high with 40 saves on Friday in a 2-1 win and followed that up with another 30 stops in Saturday's 5-3 victory. Wall has now been named Defensive Player of the Week in three of the last four weeks.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

David Cotton, BC (Sr., F; Parker, Texas) Scored a goal and added an assist on the game-winning goal in a 3-2 road win over then-#7 Providence on Saturday night.

Spencer Knight, BC (Fr., G; Darien, Conn.) The rookie netminder kicked out 52 of 55 shots over a 1-1-0 weekend in two road games. He stopped 23 of 25 shots in a 1-0 overtime loss at UNH before making 29 saves in a 3-2 win at Providence.

Matthew Quercia, BU (So., F; Andover, Mass.) Tallied four points (1g, 3a) and a plus-two rating in a weekend series at Maine. He scored the game-tying goal in a 2-2 draw on Saturday, securing back-to-back multi-points games for the first time in his career.

Jachym Kondelik, UConn (So., F; Budejovice, Czech Republic) Had a three-point (2g, 1a) weekend as the Huskies split a league set with Merrimack. Kondelik had his first career multi-goal game to lead the Huskies to a 3-2 win at Merrimack on Friday, scoring twice in the second period including a shorthanded goal.

Jeremy Swayman, Maine (Jr., G; Anchorage, Alaska) Posted a 1-0-1 record against Boston University, backstopping the Black Bears to three points in Hockey East play. He made 39 saves in Friday's 4-2 victory and kicked out another 35 in Saturday's 2-2 draw. Overall, the junior made 74 saves on 79 shots.

Jake McLaughlin, UMass (Sr., D; Hinsdale, Ill.) Had two assists in a 2-0-0 week and was plus-two to help the Minutemen to a weekend sweep in a home-and-home with then-#10 Northeastern, which included UMass' first win in Matthews Arena since 2014.

Chris Schutz, UML (Jr., F: Keller, Texas) Totaled three points (2g,1a) in the 5-3 win against Vermont on Saturday night. Totaled six shots on goal in the weekend sweep at UVM with a plus-two rating.

Carl Berglund, UML (Fr., F; Hammaro, Sweden) Had a three-point (1g, 2a) weekend to help UMass Lowell to a road sweep at Vermont.

Max Gildon, UNH (Jr., D, Plano, Texas) Dished out four assists to help the Wildcats to a 2-0-0 mark against Boston College and Dartmouth. He tallied an assist on the overtime game winner in the 1-0 win against the Eagles, before handing out three assists, including one on the game winner, as UNH earned a 5-4 overtime win over the Big Green on Saturday. Among defensemen, Gildon is fourth in the nation and leads Hockey East with 1.57 points per game.
