York To Be Inducted Into Hall Of Fame Monday Night

HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Boston College Head Hockey Coach Jerry York, the winningest coach in college hockey history, will be formally inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame at the Induction Celebration on Monday night (Nov. 18) in Toronto. The ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air live on NHL Network in the U.S. and TSN2 in Canada. Over the weekend, York coached his team to a sweep at Vermont and the Eagles have now won five straight games, outscoring opponents 22-4 in that span.

UConn took three of four points from #12 UMass Lowell over the weekend, earning a 3-3 tie at home before toppling the River Hawks, 2-1, on the road. Tomas Vomacka (Trutnov, Czech Republic) helped back-stop the Huskies, stopping 12 shots in the 3-3 tie, and 29 shots to come away with a 2-1 upset on the road over the River Hawks.

Maine is off to a 7-3-2 overall start after sweeping New Hampshire at Alfond Arena over the weekend. Mitchell Fossier (Alpharetta, Ga.) tallied three assists, including a helper on the overtime game winner on Saturday night. The senior also broke the 100-career point mark on Saturday night with his game-winning overtime assist.

Boston University and #5 Massachusetts split a weekend series. Terriers goaltender Sam Tucker (Wilton, Conn.) combined for 85 saves in the weekend split with #5 UMass including a career-high 49-save effort in Friday's 4-3 win. David Farrance (Victor, N.Y.) netted a goal in that win, his sixth tally in three games. Farrance now has seven goals in eight Hockey East games on the year, with 16 contests remaining. The single-season Hockey East record for goals by a defenseman is 13, set by Rob Cowie in 1990-91.

#10 Providence and #14 Northeastern split a high-scoring series. The Friars took game one, 3-2, thanks to two-point nights from Jack Dugan (Rochester, N.Y.) and Tyce Thompson (Milford, Conn.). Saturday saw Northeastern's offense explode for a 7-3 victory. Matt Filipe (Lynnfield, Mass.) posted a team-high four points (2g, 2a).

Wyatt Newpower - UConn

Wyatt Newpower (Hugo, Minn.), the Huskies' senior captain, had a three-point weekend as the Huskies took three points from then-#12 UMass Lowell. On Friday night, Newpower had a pair of assists in a 3-3 tie, his sixth career multi-point game. On Saturday night, Newpower scored his first goal of the season, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead in the second on the way to a 2-1 upset on the road.


PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Spencer Knight - Boston College

Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) stopped 61 of the 62 shots he faced on the road at Vermont this weekend, picking up .948 save percentage. On Saturday, he registered his third shutout in 11 starts by making 34 saves, including 17 in the first period, and pushed his personal winning streak to five games.

Jeremy Swayman - Maine

Jeremy Swayman (Anchorage, Alaska) saved 62 of 64 shots this past weekend. The junior helped thwart the UNH power play unit by only allowing just one goal during their seven chances. Swayman allowed one goal Friday night, and one power play goal Saturday night. Swayman has backstopped Maine to a 7-3-2 overall start and second place in Hockey East.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

David Cotton, BC (Sr., F: Parker, Texas) Enjoyed multi-point games in each of Boston College's two wins at Vermont. The senior from Parker, Texas dished out an assist and scored a goal for his 100th career point on Friday before collecting two assists in Saturday's 3-0 victory. He finished the series with a team-high 11 shots on goal.

Patrick Curry, BU (Sr., F; Schaumburg, Ill.) Recorded a goal and two assists against #5 UMass as the Terriers split a weekend series with the Minutemen

Tomas Vomacka, UConn (So., G; Trutnov, Czech Republic) Helped back-stop the Huskies to a three-point weekend over #12 UMass Lowell. Friday night saw Vomacka stop 12 shots in a 3-3 tie, keeping UMass Lowell off the score board in the third and overtime to protect the tie. On Saturday, he stopped 29 shots to come away with a 2-1 upset on the road over the River Hawks.

Mitchell Fossier, Maine (Sr., F; Alpharetta, Ga.) Tallied three assists across a weekend that saw the Black Bears sweep New Hampshire. Fossier's points included a helper on Eduards Tralmaks' go-ahead goal Friday night and Patrick Shea's overtime game winner on Saturday night. The senior also broke the 100-career point mark on Saturday night with his game-winning overtime assist.

Adrien Bisson, Maine (Fr., D: Cornwall, Ont.) Recorded his first career two-point game Friday night when he dished out two assists in the Black Bears 3-1 victory over UNH. The freshman was also part of the defensive unit that only allowed two goals to UNH during the weekend and only one goal during the Wildcats' seven power play chances.

Jon McDonald, UML (So., D; Livonia, Mich.) Recorded a team-high three points on the weekend for the River Hawks, including two assists in a 3-3 road tie at UConn on Friday and added a power-play goal on Saturday.

Matt Filipe, NU (Sr., F; Lynnfield, Mass.) In Saturday night's 7-3 win over #10 Providence, Filipe posted a team-high four points (2g, 2a), including a late-game empty net goal. The four-point outing marked Filipe's first multi-point game of the season and the 12th of his career as well as a career-high for the senior alternate captain.

Jeremie Bucheler, NU (Fr., D; St. Laurent, Que.) Scored his first career goal and enjoyed recording his first career multipoint outing in Saturday's 7-3 win over #10 Providence. Bucheler's first career goal came at the end of the second period and he tallied an assist on Tyler Madden's empty-netter.

Jordan Harris, NU (So., D; Haverhill, Mass.) Scored a pair of power-play goals dished out an assist, for three points across a weekend split for the Huskies. In Friday's one-goal decision against Providence, Harris recorded his first power-play goal of the weekend in the waning seconds of the game.
