HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
Providence began the 2019-20 Hockey East campaign in mid-season form, claiming a 7-0 victory over league rival Maine on Saturday evening. The Friars offense was paced by junior Greg Printz (Fairfax, Va.), who exploded for four goals and five points. Graduate goaltender Michael Lackey (Washington, D.C.) picked up a 29-save shutout in the effort, his second career blank sheet.
UMass Lowell kicked off the 2019-20 season with a pair of non-conference wins against Alabama Huntsville. Senior Kenny Hausinger (Anchorage, Alaska) racked up five points (2g, 3a) to go along with nine shots on goal and a plus-four rating. He picked up three points (1g, 2a) on opening night alone.
Boston University earned a resounding 7-3 victory on the road at Union on Saturday. Senior captain Patrick Curry (Schaumburg, Ill.) and sophomore Matthew Quercia (Andover, Mass.) scored two goals apiece and Robert Mastrosimone (East Islip, N.Y.) found the back of the net and chipped in a helper in his NCAA debut.
UConn picked up a 3-3 stalemate at Sacred Heart on Saturday, thanks in part to sophomore netminder Tomas Vomacka (Trutnov, Czech Republic.) The 2019 Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team selection posted a career-high 45 saves for the Huskies. He kicked out 20 shots in the second period alone, including denying a penalty shot, and followed up with 14 saves in the third period and four in overtime to preserve the tie.
Three other Hockey East teams began 2019-20 with exhibition wins, including Boston College (4-2, New Brunswick), Vermont (6-1, Guelph), and New Hampshire (4-3, Guelph.)
Merrimack saw outstanding performances from underclassmen in a two-game set
at Lake Superior. Freshman defenseman Zach Uens (Belleville, Ont.) earned a
three-point (1g, 2a) weekend, including his first career goal and multi-point outing
on Sunday as he led the team with eight shots on net. Sophomore Chase Gresock
(Powell, Ohio) registered a two-goal game in Merrimack's season opener. It was
the second career two-goal game for the forward.

Matt Boldy, BC (Fr., F; Millis, Mass.) Netted the game-winning goal in a 4-2 win over New Brunswick in Saturday's exhibition and had a team-high three shots on net.
Spencer Knight, BC (Fr., G; Darien, Conn.) Stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced in 40 minutes of play on Saturday, earning a win in Saturday's exhibition against New Brunswick.
Patrick Curry, BU (Sr., F; Schaumburg, Ill.) Scored two goals and added an assist in the Terriers' season-opening 7-3 win at Union on Saturday.
David Farrance, BU (So., D; Victor, N.Y.) Had a career-high three points (1g, 2a) and helped limit Union to just 13 shots on net as the Terriers earned a 7-3 road win on Saturday.

Chase Gresock, MC (So., F; Powell, Ohio) Registered a two-goal game in Merrimack's season opener against Lake Superior State. It marked the second career two-goal game for Merrimack's all-rookie selection last season. He totaled five shots on net over the two games.
Zach Uens, MC (Fr., D; Belleville, Ont.) Earned a three-point (1g, 2a) weekend in his Merrimack debut. He scored his first career goal on Sunday and also picked up his first multi-point effort with a helper in the contest. He led the team with eight shots on net.
Parker Ford, PC (Fr., F; Wakefield, R.I.) Collected two assists in his collegiate debut, posting a plus-two rating, five shot on net, and going 10-of-16 on faceoffs in a 7-0 win over Maine.
Alex Esposito, UVM (Jr., F; West Haven. Conn.) Scored a goal and added two assists in a 6-1 exhibition win over Guelph on Saturday.
Jacques Bouquot, UVM (Fr., F; South Windsor, Conn.) Netted a power-play tally and chipped in with a helper to power the Catamounts over Guelph in exhibition play.
Stefanos Lekkas, UVM (Sr., G; Elburn, Ill.) Tallied 21 saves on 22 shots across two periods of work to earn a 6-1 win over Guelph.
