HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Maine earned a weekend split at #8 Quinnipiac, earning its first road win over a non-conference Top Ten opponent since a sweep of North Dakota on October 20-21, 2007. Eduards Tralmaks (Riga Latvia) racked up five points (3g, 2a) on the weekend, including two goals and one helper in Friday's 4-2 win.

Providence swept a weekend series at St. Lawrence and #9 Clarkson, thanks in part to five points from Tyce Thompson (Milford, Conn.). The sophomore tied the league lead with three goals and five points, including two goals in a 4-2 win over Clarkson on Saturday.

Massachusetts enjoyed a 2-1-0 week, including a sweep of Union by a combined score of 11-1. Zac Jones (Glen Allen, Va.) led UMass in scoring with five points (1g, 4a) across the week, including a goal and two assists in Friday's 6-1 win.

UConn earned its first win of the year with a 5-2 victory on the road at RPI. Sophomore Carter Turnbull (Nanaimo, B.C.) turned in his first career multi-point effort, setting up UConn's first strike of the night before adding his first tally of the year. Tomas Vomacka (Trutnov, Czech Republic) stopped 29 shots to post his first win on the season. Vomacka also added his first career assist, picking up the second assist on the Harrison Rees' second period goal.

Vermont earned a weekend split on the road at #9 Clarkson and St. Lawrence. Stefanos Lekkas (Elburn, Ill.) recorded 35 saves in a 2-0 win at St. Lawrence on Saturday, giving Vermont its first win of the year. He made 20 saves in the third period alone to pick up his fourth career shutout. Joey Cipollone (Purchase, N.Y.) scored the first goal of Vermont's 2019-20 season Friday night at #9 Clarkson. He added an assist on the Catamounts' game-winning goal at St. Lawrence on Saturday and finished with a plus-one rating.

Eduards Tralmaks - Maine

Eduards Tralmaks (Riga Latvia) racked up five points (3g, 2a) in a weekend split at #8 Quinnipiac. In Friday's 4-2 victory over the Bobcats, the junior forward recorded two goals and one helper before chipping in with another goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-3 setback. The win on Friday was Maine's first road win over a non-league Top 10 team since sweeping at #3 North Dakota on October 20-21, 2007.

Zac Jones - Massachusetts

Zac Jones (Glen Allen, Va.) led UMass in scoring during a 2-1-0 week, racking up five points (1g, 4a.) He finished plus-four across three outings and logged his second and third multi-point games in the process. Jones found the back of the net and added two helpers in Friday's 6-1 win over Union before dishing out another two helpers and anchoring a UMass defense that posted a shutout in Saturday's 5-0 triumph, allowing just 15 shots on net. He currently leads the nation in scoring among defensemen with 1.75 points per game.

Stefanos Lekkas - Vermont

Stefanos Lekkas (Elburn, Ill.) recorded 35 saves in a 2-0 win at St. Lawrence, giving Vermont its first win of the year on Saturday. He made 20 saves in the third period alone to pick up his fourth career shutout. In a 3-2 season-opening loss at #9 Clarkson, the senior stopped 29 shots. Lekkas finished the weekend with a 1.52 goals against average and .955 save percentage after saving 64 of 67 shots.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Mike Hardman, BC (Fr., F; Hanover, Mass.) Netted his first career goal and added an assist Saturday night at #1 Denver.

Patrick Harper, BU (Sr., F; New Canaan, Conn.) Totaled three points in a weekend series with Northern Michigan, netting BU's first goal each night.

Trevor Zegras, BU (Fr., F; Bedford, N.Y.) Potted the first goal of his NCAA career and chipped in with two helpers and a plus-three rating in two games against Northern Michigan.

Carter Turnbull, UConn (So., F; Nanaimo, B.C.) Turned in his first career multi-point effort to help the Huskies to their first win of the year, a 5-2 victory at RPI. Turnbull set up UConn's first strike of the night, then added his first tally of the year to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead in the second period.

Harrison Rees, UConn (Fr., D; Oakville, Ont.) Netted his first career NCAA goal and finished a plus-two as the Huskies took their first victory, 5-2, on the road at RPI. He added two blocked shots in the winning effort.

Tomas Vomacka, UConn (So., G; Trutnov, Czech Republic) stopped 29 shots to post his first win on the season, 5-2 at RPI. Vomacka also added his first career assist in the win, picking up the second assist on the Harrison Rees second period goal.

Mitchell Fossier, Maine (Sr., F; Alpharetta, Ga.) Turned in a four-assist performance on Friday night, powering the Black Bears' offense to a 4-2 win at #8 Quinnipiac. The senior now has at least one helper in each of his last four games, totaling eight assists in the frame.

Jeremy Swayman, Maine (Jr., G; Anchorage, Alaska) Stopped 62 of 65 shots he faced at #8 Quinnipiac, earning a weekend split for the Black Bears. The junior netminder had 31 saves each night.

Bobby Trivigno, UMass (So., F; Setauket, N.Y.) Enjoyed a four-point weekend (3g, 1a) and finished with a plus-two rating as UMass swept Union by a combined score of 11-1. He scored twice in Friday's 6-1 win, including a power-play strike and the game-winning goal, and picked up a goal and an assist in Saturday's 5-0 victory.

Matt Brown, UML (Fr., F; Wood Ridge, N.J.) Totaled three points (1g, 2a) in a home weekend series against Colgate, firing eight shots on net.

Tyler Wall, UML (Sr., G; Leamington, Ont.) Recorded 25 saves in a scoreless draw with Colgate on Saturday night, earning his eighth career shutout.

Troy Kobryn, MC (Fr., G; Hillsborough, N.J.) Stopped 34 shots on Thursday night, allowing just one goal as he backstopped Merrimack to a 3-1 win at Holy Cross. The rookie stopped all 27 shots he saw in the final 40 minutes, including 16 in the third period. On the weekend, he made 52 saves in a 1-1-0 showing.

Tyler Madden, NU (So., F; Deerfield Beach, Fla.) Led the Huskies' offense in Saturday's draw with Holy Cross, scoring both of Northeastern's goals in a 2-2 draw.

Tyce Thompson, PC (So., F; Milford, Conn.) Tied for the league lead with three goals and five points, helping Providence to a weekend sweep in the North Country. He netted two goals in a 4-2 win over #9 Clarkson on Saturday and chipped in with a goal and two helpers the previous night in a 6-0 shutout of St. Lawrence.

Parker Ford, PC (Fr., F; Wakefield, R.I.) Paced Hockey East rookies with three goals and 10 shots on net last week. Through four games this year, the rookie has three goals and three assists.

Michael Lackey, PC (Gr., G; Washington, D.C.) Earned two wins last weekend, stopping 51 of 53 shots she faced, and recorded his second shutout of the season with 27 saves against St. Lawrence. He picked up a 1.00 goals against average and .962 save percentage.

Joey Cipollone, UVM (So., F; Purchase, N.Y.) Scored the first goal of Vermont's 2019-20 season Friday night at #9 Clarkson. He added an assist on the Catamounts' game-winning goal at St. Lawrence on Saturday and finished with a plus-one rating.

Andrew Lucas, UVM (Fr., D; Alexandria, Va.) Registered assists on both of Vermont's goals at #9 Clarkson in his collegiate debut and added a pair of blocked shots on the weekend.
