ORONO, Maine --- The University of Maine women's ice hockey lost to Hockey East rival Vermont 2-1 at Alfond Arena Saturday afternoon. Maine falls to 10-14-3 on the season, while Vermont improves to 4-13-0.

The Black Bears had the lone goal of the first period. Victoria Hummel (Tulln, Austria) tipped home a rebound from the Kristin Gilmour's slap shot at (17:43) to give Maine the 1-0 lead. Eve Boissonneault (Sudbury, Ontario) and Kristin Gilmour (Millgrove, Ontario) set up the scoring play.

Vermont wasted little time to even the score in the second period. Dayna Colang tipped home a power play goal at (1:07). Mackenzie Macneil had her shot saved by Meghann Treacy (Lake Peakskill, New York), but a juicy rebound led to a tie game. Amanda Drobot was also credited with an assist.

Meghann Treacy and Madison Litchfield combined to save 21 shots on goal in third period to send the game into overtime.

Rachel Ade found a streaking Amanda Pelkey in the overtime period. Pelkey, combined with some fancy stick work, snuck past the Maine defense and flipped a wrist shot past Treacy for the game-winning goal at (3:45).

Meghann Treacy saved 53 of 55 shots on goal, a season high, and Madison Litchfield saved 26 of 27 shots on goal. The Black Bears did not have a power play, while the Catamounts scored one goal on two power play opportunities.

The Black Bears return to action February 14th at #1 Boston College. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
