Senior forward Danielle Ward scored the game-tying goal for the Black Bears

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team skated to a 4-4 draw against Brown University. With the tie, the Black Bears' record is now 7-5-3 and remains 2-3-1 in Hockey East play. The Brown Bears' is now 2-2-4 and still 1-2-3 in ECAC action. Tori Pasquariello (Mississauga, Ontario) found the back of the net twice for the Black Bears while Danielle Ward (Lansing, Mich.) and Brianne Kilgour (Hamilton, Ontario) each tallied one goal.

Brown took an early lead just 41seconds into the first period on a goal by Sarah Robson, which was assisted by Brittany Moorehead, making the score 1-0. At 3:34, Tori Pasquariello nabbed her fifth goal of the season and her fourth in the last three games for the Black Bears. Chloe Tinkler (Wabush, Newfoundland) found Pasquariello to earn her fourth assist of the season. Maine then took a 2-1 lead on a power play goal by Brianne Kilgour, her first of the season, at 7:45. Brittany Dougherty (Chesterfield, Mich.) assisted Kilgour on the play for her seventh assist of the season. Maine had now taken a 2-1 lead. Brown answered with a power play goal of their own at 10:18 on a goal by Katelyn Landry, receiving the puck from Shannon Flatley, evening the score at 2-2. The Brown Bears then took a 3-2 lead at 15:02 via a power play goal by Laurie Jollin, assisted by Jessica Hoyle and Paige Pyett. The score would remain 3-2 for the duration of the first period.

In the second period, the Black Bears fired off eight shots while the Brown Bears shot six times. Each goalie stopped each of the shot they faced for a scoreless second period.

Brown opened up the scoring in the third period at 8:32 on a power play goal by Jessica Hoyle, with assists coming from Sarah Robson and Laurie Jollin, giving the Brown Bears a 4-2 lead. At 15:45, Tori Pasquariello found the back of the net for her second goal of the night, cutting Brown's lead to 4-3 with under five minutes remaining in regulation. The goal now puts Pasquariello's season total at six while Jennifer More (Deloraine, Manitoba) earned her fifth assist of the season. Then, with just over two minutes to play, Danielle Ward clinched her seventh goal of the season to tie the game at 4-4. Brianne Kilgour found Ward for her second point of the night and her fifth assist of the season. After 60 minutes of play, the game was headed for overtime.

Brown attempted one shot on goal in overtime while Maine grabbed two on net. Again, both goalies kept their teams from losing by stopping the shots and ending the game in a 4-4 draw.

Black Bear Brittany Ott (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) stopped 20 of the 24 shots she faced while Brown Bear Aubree Moore stopped 27 of 31 shots. With the decision, Ott's record now stands at 4-4-2 while Moore's is now 0-1-3 on the season. The Black Bears were 1-for-7 on the power play while Brown went 3-for-8.

The two teams will go at it again tomorrow, November 19, at Alfond Arena. The puck will drop at 3 p.m. for the two-game series finale.
