PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Dawn Sullivan's (Enfield, Nova Scotia) third period goal broke a 2-2 tie and proved to be the game-winner for the Black Bears as Maine skated past Robert Morris, 4-2, on Friday evening. The win is Maine's second in a row, bringing the Black Bears to 6-6-2. Robert Morris falls to 2-12-0 with the loss. Brittany Dougherty (Chesterfield, Mich.) had a goal and a pair of assists for Maine while junior Myriam Croussette (Baie-Comeau, Quebec) tallied a goal and an assist, her second straight game with a pair of points.

Robert Morris jumped out to a 1-0 lead, 6:47 into the first period when Dayna Newsom found the back of the net for the fourth time this season. The power play goal was started when Brianna Delaney hit Sara O'Malley with a pass. O'Malley then slid a pass to Newsom who fired a shot past Maine goaltender Brittany Ott (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) to record the power play goal for the Colonials.

The Black Bears would tie the score just over four minutes later when freshman Missy Denk (Poplar Grove, Ill.) lit the lamp for her second career goal. Senior Jennie Gallo (Castlegar, British Columbia) set up the play for Maine with a great pass right onto the stick of Denk who then beat Colinal goaltender Daneca Butterfield.

After entering the first intermission tied at one goal a piece, Dougherty would waste no time giving Maine its first lead of the contest. Just 1:02 into the second period, Croussette hooked up with Dougherty on a nice play that resulted in Dougherty notching her ninth goal of the season and putting the Black Bears up 2-1.

Robert Morris would battle back to tie the score, 8:44 into the second period with their second power play goal of the contest. The Colonials game-tying goal was started by Thea Imbrogno who slid a pass cross ice to Kelsey Thomas. Thomas then skated with the puck and hit O'Malley with a pass. O'Malley then found the back of the net to tie things up once again.

Sullivan broke the 2-2 tie with Maine skating on the power play, 7:49 into the third period. Danielle Ward (Lansing, Mich.) set up Sullivan for the goal which was the captain's second of the season. Dougherty also assisted on the goal for Maine.

Croussette would give the Black Bears a little cushion when she cashed in for her third goal in two games game, scoring for the seventh time this season. Ashley Norum (Fairbanks, Alaska) assisted on the goal for Maine. It was Norum's eighth assist on the season.

Ott moves her record to 5-5-2 on the season after making 42 saves, her second straight game with 30 or more saves. Butterfield made 10 saves for the Colonials while Kristen DiCiocco made a save and gave up a goal.

The two teams meet up in the series finale tomorrow with a 2 p.m. puck drop scheduled from RMU Island Sports Center.
