AROUND HOCKEY EAST: Boston College and Maine each swept weeks in league play, as the Eagles took a 3-0-0 week over Merrimack and New Hampshire while the Black Bears won twice at Boston University, their first wins at Walter Brown Arena since the 2011-12 season. Eagles freshman sensation Daryl Watts (Toronto, Ont.) set Boston College and Women's Hockey East single-season freshman scoring records, scoring 42 points (24g, 18a) in league play to this point and 59 points (29g, 30a) overall. Watts racked up 12 points on the week, scoring seven times and adding five assists. Makenna Newkirk (Scottsdale, Ariz.) scored 10 points (3g, 7a) for her Eagles, leading the nation in assists. She scored two game-winning goals and picked up one four-point night (2g, 2a) and one fivepoint outing (1g, 4a) ... Maine was led by sophomore forward Tereza Vanisova (Strakonice, Czech Republic) who scored three goals against Boston University, pushing the Black Bears to a sweep of the Terriers. Carly Jackson (Amherst, N.S.) Stopped 46 shots her two starts at BU, allowing just three goals in two games. The four points in league play lifted the Black Bears into third place in the league standings with 11 games remaining. Boston University's Jesse Compher (Northbrook, Ill.) tallied a goal and had the primary helper on another Sunday against Maine. She led the Terriers with nine shots on goal and went 30 for 46 at the faceoff dot, the most faceoff wins of any NCAA freshman last weekend ... Providence went 2-0-1 in three games last week including a 3-1 win over Brown in the annual Mayor's Cup competition. Meaghan Rickard (Coventry, R.I.) scored the game-winning goal as part of a three-point day (1g, 2a) at Vermont on Saturday after she also set up the decisive tally in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Brown ... UConn split the weekend, falling to Merrimack, 2-1, and topping Brown, 5-1. Briana Colangelo (Whitby, Ont.) netted two markers in the Huskies' victory while rookie defenseman Taylor Wabick (Winnipeg, Man.) scored her first career goal and added a helper.
HOCKEY EAST WEEKLY TOP PERFORMERS
Katie Burt, BC (Sr., G; Lynn, Mass.) Earned three wins, including two on the road last week. She posted a 1.33/.953 line with one shutout, a 33-save performance at UNH on Friday. She led the nation in saves with 82 in 179:55 of work.
Deziray De Sousa, BU (So., F; Montreal, Que.) Scored BU's lone goal Saturday and chipped in with two assists Sunday.
