AROUND HOCKEY EAST: No. 8 Boston University opened the 2015-16 season with a pair of dramatic wins in league play, downing UConn on Friday night, 2-1, with just 0.3 seconds remaining before engineering a comeback Sunday at Maine with four unanswered goals to win, 4-2. Senior forward Rebecca Russo slammed home Friday night's game-winner with just 0.3 seconds left in regulation to seal the victory for the Terriers. It is the latest goal scored in program history. Sophomore goaltender Victoria Hanson has never conceded a goal to Maine in her career, a shutout streak that spans 85:13 ... No. 2 Boston College opened the 2015-16 campaign with two non-league victories over Minnesota Duluth. Reigning Patty Kazmaier winner Alex Carpenter logged four goals in the two games, including a hat trick and game-winner Saturday ... Sophomore goaltender Katie Burt kicked out a career-high 32 shots Saturday in a 4-2 win ... The Eagles had 12 different players register at least one point on the weekend and seven skaters with multiple-point outings to extend their home unbeaten streak to 35 games (Oct. 16, 2013, 34-0-1) ... Maine began their season with a 4-0 victory at New Hampshire behind a 29-save shutout from senior goaltender Meghann Treacy. In that game, senior forward Audra Richards recorded a hat trick before scoring a fourth goal in Sunday's tilt with Boston University ... The Providence College Friars skated in two tilts against No. 3 Wisconsin in San Jose, California, falling in each contest to the Badgers ... New Hampshire freshman goaltender Hilary Cashin saved 17 of 21 shots in her collegiate debut against Maine ... Northeastern downed Toronto Leaside, 5-0, in exhibition play at Matthews Arena.

Richards and Carpenter each notched four goals in two games this weekend for their teams, including hat tricks Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Eagles won both contests while Maine split the weekend with UNH and BU.

Davis began her collegiate career in style, scoring three goals in two games, including the game-winning tally with 3:04 remaining in regulation in a 4-2 road victory at Maine on Sunday. In a 2-1 home win over UConn on Friday, Davis scored the first goal of her time as Terrier at Walter Brown Arena.

Hanson stopped 34 shots in two appearances on the weekend, earing two wins against league foes UConn and Maine. Friday against the Huskies, Hanson kicked out 20 shots to earn the 2-1 victory before stopping 14 shots in relief at Maine Sunday. The sophomore goaltender has never allowed a goal to the Black Bears, riding an 85:13 shutout streak against them.

Alex Carpenter, BC (Sr., F, N. Reading, Massachusetts) Scored four goals in two games, including a hat trick and the game-winning goal Saturday.

Makenna Newkirk, BC (Fr., F, Scottsdale, Arizona) Registered two assists in two wins over Minnesota Duluth, including chipping in on Saturday's game-winner.

Megan Keller, BC (So., D, Farmington Hills, Michigan) Notched a goal and an assist in two Eagles' wins on the weekend.

Rebecca Russo, BU (Sr., F, Westport, Connecticut) Potted the game-winner with 0.3 seconds remaining in Friday's 2-1 win over UConn before adding another goal and a helper on the game-winner Sunday at Maine.

Sammy Davis, BU (Fr., F, Pembroke, Massachusetts) Netted three goals in two games, including Sunday's game-winning strike at Maine.

Victoria Hanson, BU (Jr., G, Stoughton, Massachusetts) Made 34 saves in two wins on the weekend to carry a 0.61 GAA and .971 save percentage.

Audra Richards, Maine (Sr., F, Maplewood, Minnesota) Scored a hat trick in the season opener at New Hampshire, a 4-0 Black Bears win.

Nicole Arnold, Maine (Fr., F, St. Louis, Missouri) Picked up an assist in her first career game with the Black Bears.
