#2/3 Northeastern vs. Merrimack, at #8 Boston University

- This Friday, #2 Northeastern visits Merrimack to face the Warriors for the first time this season. The Huskies are riding an 11-game conference winning streak and clinched the Hockey East regular season title last weekend.

- Since the 2015-16 season, Northeastern leads 9-1-2 overall and their most recent match up in February 2019 ended in an overtime 4-4 draw.

- Over the weekend the Warriors fell to Providence, 3-0, despite efforts from senior goaltender Léa-Kristine Demers (Repentigny, Qué.) who made 39 saves.

- After defeating #10 Harvard on Tuesday in the opening round of the 42nd Women's Beanpot, 3-1, Northeastern will face off with league rival Boston University in the championship game Tuesday. Northeastern has a 3-0-0 record over the Terriers this season.

- Last weekend, sophomore forward and Hockey East Player of the Week Alina Mueller (Winterthur, Switzerland) scored her 100th career point. Mueller also led the nation with 15 points (7g, 8a) in the month of January and led the league with 1.50 points per game to earn Hockey East Player of the Month accolades.

- Northeastern also boasts Hockey East Goaltender of the Month in junior Aerin Frankel (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.). Frankel led the nation with seven wins in January, including a four-game shutout streak, and led the conference with a .967 save percentage.

- #8 Boston University advanced to the Beanpot Championship game as the Terriers topped Boston College, 4-0, on Tuesday night. Junior forward Jessie Compher (Northbrook, Ill.) scored twice and junior goaltender Corinne Schroeder (Elm Creek, Man.) made 33 saves.

- The Eagles face #10 Harvard in the Beanpot third place match up on Tuesday after falling to Boston University, 4-0, Tuesday night.

- The Wildcats and Warriors will close the season series after a home-and-home set on Dec. 6-7. The Wildcats swept the Warriors, 6-0 and 4-2. In game one, senior forward Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) scored twice and while junior defenseman Maddie Truax (Gardner, Mass.) and junior forward Grace Middleton (Midland, Mich.) tallied two helpers each in the second tilt.

- In UNH's most recent outing in a two-game set at Maine, the 'Cats secured one point in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings. Making her second and third career appearances, freshman goaltender Ava Thewes (Clarkson, Mich.) stopped every shot she faced, making 26 saves in two relief appearances, to earn Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week. Thewes is the third New Hampshire goaltender to pick up that honor this season, just the second time in league history three netminders on one team have achieved that feat after the Northeastern trio did so in 2018-19.

Maine vs. Providence

- Maine hits the road for a pair against Providence. The two squads met on Nov. 15 in Orono and tallied a high-scoring game from both sides. The Black Bears came out on top in a 5-4 overtime win, with the game-winner coming off the stick of senior forward Tereza Vanišová (Strakonice, Czech Republic).

- Reigning Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, Maine's Ida Kuoppala (Pedersore, Finland), scored three goals and tallied two assists over in a weekend that saw the Black Bears claim a 5-1 win and 2-2 draw against New Hampshire. Kuoppala is currently on a five-game point streak (7g, 2a) and led all conference freshman with 10 goals in January to earning Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month.

- Providence is also coming out of a three-point weekend after the Friars shutout Merrimack, 3-0, thanks to sophomore goaltender Sandra Abstreiter's (Freising, Germany) second career shutout with 14 saves. The Friars followed up with a 2-2 draw with UConn.

UConn vs. Vermont

- UConn is on the road this weekend for two games in Vermont as the Huskies square off with the Catamounts. UConn has not lost a game to Vermont since February 2018. So far this season, the two teams met on Nov. 15 in a game that resulted in a 2-2 draw after Catamounts sophomore defenseman Maude Poulin-Labelle (Sherbrooke, Qué.) forced the game into overtime with power-play goal at 13:15 of the third.

- UConn's has gone to overtime in each of its last two games, including a late-game thriller at then-#3 Northeastern. Senior forward Jesse Aney (Rochester, Minn.) tied the game with one minute remaining on the clock before ultimately falling in the extra frame. The next day at Providence, the Huskies took an early lead off the stick of senior defenseman Emily Reid (Whitby, Ont.) but settled for an eventual 2-2 draw.

- Over the weekend, Vermont earned a crucial point in league play to stay within two points of Maine in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings. After falling in a 2-0 hole to Holy Cross, junior forward Val Caldwell (Glenview, Ill.) found the back of the net at 13:36 of the third period before freshman forward Lily Humphrey (Huntington Beach, Calif.) knotted the game with just 55 seconds remaining in regulation.
