Maine vs. #3 Northeastern, vs. Boston University

- Maine opens up 2019-20 conference play as they play host to Northeastern and Boston University over the weekend. The Black Bears went 0-2-1 against the Huskies last season and 2-1-0 against the Terriers.

- The Black Bears split a two-game home stand with Quinnipiac last weekend and dropped the first game, 3-2, in overtime, before playing to 0-0 draw in their second meeting. Maddie Giordano (Granby, Conn.) scored both Maine goals on Friday, including the game-tying tally to force the extra frame.

- Northeastern begins league play with an unblemished 3-0-0 overall record as the Huskies visit Main Friday before hosting New Hampshire on Sunday.

- The Huskies took 11 of 12 Hockey East points from the two teams last season, going 2-0-1 against the Black Bears and sweeping their three game series with the Wildcats, 3-0-0.

- Dave Flint's team is off to a 3-0-0 start after taking both games during a non-conference road trip at Syracuse, downing the Orange 2-1 and 6-3. Sophomore and reigning Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Year Alina Mueller (Winterthur, Switzerland) was named Hockey East Player of the Week after posting five points (1g, 4a) on the weekend.


#7 Boston College vs. Merrimack, at Vermont

- The Eagles look to keep the momentum of a 4-0-0 start (3-0-0 WHEA) when they take on conference opponents Merrimack and Vermont over the weekend. Last season, the Eagles went 2-1-0 against the Warriors and swept the Catamounts, 3-0-0.

- Boston College enters Friday's meeting with the Warriors holding the current season advantage after taking the first two of their three game series, 2-0, and 3-1, on Sept. 27-28 to begin the year.

- Merrimack is seeking a repeat of last year's regular season finale with the Eagles, when the Warriors took the third game, 1-0, after dropping the first two.

- In their last outing, the Warriors played to a 2-2 overtime draw in league action against then-#10 Boston University. Sophomore Keisha DiCaire (Ottawa, Ont.) recorded two assists in the game, matching her career high for points in a game.


UConn vs. Boston University, at Merrimack

- UConn continues a four-game stretch of conference play as the Huskies welcome Boston University on Friday night and pay a visit to Merrimack on Saturday afternoon. In 2018-19, the Huskies dropped the regular season series against each team, 0-2-1.

- The Huskies began Hockey East play over the weekend, falling to New Hampshire, 2-0, before shutting out Holy Cross, 2-0. Samantha Carpentier-Yelle (Bromont, Que.) stopped all 19 attempts by the Crusaders to earn her first shutout of the year on Saturday.

- The Terriers will look to turn things around after a 0-1-1 record to begin Hockey East play. Brian Durocher's team played Merrimack to a 2-2 overtime draw before dropping a 4-2 decision on the road at New Hampshire. Rookie Julia Nearis (Beverly, Mass.) recorded her first collegiate goal against the Warriors on Friday night.


Vermont vs. New Hampshire, vs. #7 Boston College

- Vermont will look to keep their four-game unbeaten streak going when the Catamounts host the Wildcats and Eagles at Gutterson Fieldhouse for their first taste of Hockey East action over the week. The Cats took last year's series with New Hampshire, 2-0-1, but were swept by Boston College.

- It is the first time since 2007-08 that the Catamounts have begun the year with a four-game unbeaten streak. That year, Vermont opened the season 4-0-0 with sweeps of Union and Sacred Heart.

- The Catamounts wrap up their current four-game home stand after taking a 1-0-1 mark against St. Lawrence in non-conference action last weekend. They played the Saints to a 2-2 overtime draw in their first game of the weekend, before winning game two, 5-2. It marked the first time Vermont defeated St. Lawrence in program history.

- Lily Humphrey (Hunting- ton Beach, Calif.) was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week after netting two goals in the series, the most for any Hockey East first year skater over the weekend.

- New Hampshire looks to continue their winning ways in conference play after getting off to a 2-0-0 start to the year. The Wildcats shutout UConn, 2-0, on the road and posted a 4-2 victory at home against then-#10 Boston University.

- Junior goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, P.E.I.) earned her second blank sheet of the season against the Huskies and recorded 50 stops through the two games en route to earning Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time in the first three weeks of the season.


Providence vs. Penn State

- The Friars are back on home ice after a three-game road swing when they welcome Penn State to Schneider Arena for two games. Last season, the two teams split a pair of games, with Providence taking game one, 3-2, in overtime before falling to the Nittany Lions, 5-3, in game two at Penn State.

- Providence enters the weekend after going 1-0-1 on the road at Bemidji State. They defeated the Beavers, 5-1, on Friday and played to a 2-2 tie through the extra frame on Saturday. Rookie Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) recorded two career firsts on the weekend when she dished out an assist and netted a goal.


Holy Cross at St. Lawrence

- Holy Cross will look to earn their first victory of the season when they travel to St. Lawrence for two non-conference match ups. This weekend marks the first ever meetings between the two teams since the Crusaders joined the Division I ranks prior to the 2017-18 season.

- The Crusaders were shutout by UConn, 2-0, in their only match up last week. Sophomore goaltender Jada Brenon (Pendleton, N.Y.) stopped 35 shots in the effort, her third time with at least 35 saves in four outings this year.
