WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Hockey East is proud to announce that a record 150 student-athletes have been named to the league's 2016-17 All-Academic Team. Each student-athlete achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two academic periods during which he was actively competing.
Three players, all from Merrimack College, earned the prestigious honor of being named Hockey East's Top Scholar- Athlete, compiling a perfect 4.0 GPA for the season. Those skaters include defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic (Grimsby, Ont.) and forwards Hampus Gustafsson (Ljungby, Sweden), and Alfred Larsson (Malmo, Sweden). Seven players reached "Distinguished Scholar" status in 2016-17, having qualified for the All-Academic team in each of four seasons of varsity play, while 27 others are three-time honorees.
