WAKEFIELD, Mass. - NESN is set to air a slate of classic Hockey East games from past iterations of Frozen Fenway throughout the next seven days, it was announced today. Five games featuring eight different programs from both the men's and women's league will be featured as NESN begins its "Summer School" slate of programming across both NESN and NESN+. A full schedule can be found below.
Each night beginning today, Monday, June 8, fans will have two opportunities to watch each highlighted classic Frozen Fenway contest. The schedule has contests spanning the last 10 years of the historic event from Boston's beloved ballpark, including the inaugural men's and women's games from 2010, the first college hockey games of their kind in the east.
Frozen Fenway has proved to be an unprecedented success for Hockey East. The original event, played in 2010 in concert with the National Hockey League's Winter Classic, sold out on the first day of public sale. In January 2012, Hockey East created a doubleheader event that featured the league's four Division I state universities: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. As in 2010, the event sold out, leading to the addition of third contest, Boston College vs. Northeastern due to popular demand. Following the successful fourth iteration in 2017, each of Hockey East's member institutions have competed on the outdoor rink at Fenway Park.
