Freshman goaltender Gwyneth Philips recorded her first career shutout for the Huskies

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's hockey team took on No. 4 Northeastern University at the Whittemore Center Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats played a hard-fought game but fell to the Huskies, 1-0, after they scored a goal with 30 seconds remaining in the first period.

The Wildcats and Huskies combined to go 0-for-7 on the power play, and UNH was outshot by NU by a total of 36-20. This was only the second time this year the Wildcats were held to 20 shots or less on goal.

Redshirt sophomore goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) allowed only one goal in the first period and recorded 35 saves on the afternoon. Her record on the season now stands at 6-6-1.

GAME RECAP

- With 29.9 seconds left in the first period, Northeastern scored the only goal of the game with a shot by Katy Knoll. Knoll took a pass from Skylar Fontaine and got a clean shot into the back of the net.

- In a scoreless second period, the Wildcats killed off two Northeastern power plays, however they failed to convert on their own two power plays. With five minutes left in the period, UNH had one of its best scoring opportunities on a great rush with a shot by Emily Rickwood (Brantford, Ontario) that was saved by Philips.

- In the closing period, with Northeastern on a power play, UNH pulled Boutilier with just over a minute remaining in hopes to tie the game. The Huskies were able to hold the Wildcats to maintain the shutout.
