Holy Cross Defeated By St. Lawrence, 4-1

CANTON, N.Y. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team fell to St. Lawrence, 4-1, Sunday afternoon SUNY Canton.

The Saints scored in the first and added two more in the second before the Crusaders were able to get on the board. Mary Edmonds recorded her second goal of the season with Emma Lange and Bailey Bennett picking up assists. The point was Bennett's first as a Crusader.

St. Lawrence would add one more in the third to wrap things up.


SCORING SUMMARY:

1-0 SLU (1st, 8:07, EV): Kayla Vespa put the Saints on the board before the midway point of the first.

2-0 SLU (2nd, 4:16, EV): Laura Cote scored her first of the year on a partial breakaway off the feed from Skyler Podvey.

3-0 SLU (2nd, 13:27, EV): The Saints added their third goal of the afternoon.

3-1 SLU (2nd, 13:36, EV): The Crusaders broke through when Bennett fed a pass across the ice to Lange who took a shot from the blue line. Edmonds was there to put home the rebound.

4-1 SLU (3rd, 12:36, EV): Vespa capped the scoring with her second of the day.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Outshot 31-22 for the game, the Crusaders held the advantage in the second period, 11-5.

- Holy Cross was perfect on the penalty kill, denying the Saints five times.

- Jada Brenon made 27 saves for the game.


UP NEXT:

Holy Cross is back in action next Friday, Oct. 25, with a 2 p.m. matchup at No. 7 Boston College.
