WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team tied Penn State, 1-1, for the second night in a row at the Hart Center Saturday night.
The Crusaders got on the board first in the second period when Carlie Magier and Rachel Moore broke loose for a two-on-one opportunity, and Magier ended up finding the back of the net. It was Holy Cross' first short-handed goal since the 2017-2018 season.
They would hold onto the lead until late in the third when the Nittany Lions finally broke through on a power play.
Julia Pelletier made 31 saves in goal for the Crusaders in her first start of the season. Moore and Magier led the team with six and five shots respectively.
SCORING SUMMARY:
1-0 HC (2nd, 18:40, SH): Magier and Moore were able to force the puck out of their defensive zone and headed straight for Penn State's goal. Working the puck between them to avoid a defender, Magier ended up ripping a shot on net to beat Brenneman.
