Brenon Stops 40 Shots As Holy Cross Ties Penn State, 3-3
Sophomore goaltender Jada Brenon made 40 saves for the Crusaders

WORCESTER, Mass. - Three freshman tallied their first collegiate goals as the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team came back from a two-goal deficit to tie Penn State, 3-3, Friday night.

The Crusaders entered the third period trailing by two, but goals by Mary Edmonds and Carly Beniek would tie things up and send the game to overtime where it eventually ended as a draw. Kailey Langefels scored in the first period and sophomore Jada Brenon made 40 saves to help Holy Cross to its first tie of the season.

The Crusaders moved the puck well on a night where each of their three goals saw two different players register assists.

SCORING SUMMARY:

1-0 PSU (1st, 1:49, EV): Julie Gough snagged a loose puck in the Nittany Lions offensive zone and lifted it over Brenon's shoulder for the first goal of the game.

1-1 HC (1st, 4:02, PP): On the man advantage, Langefels sent one in from the blue line that had enough on it to beat Penn State's Brenneman. Antonia Matzka and Rachel Moore each got their first assist of the season on the play.

2-1 PSU (1st, 8:09, EV): The Nittany Lions took the lead back thanks to 2018-19's leading scorer, Natalie Heising.

3-1 PSU (2nd, 19:08, PP): Penn State doubled their lead on a 5-on-3 at the end of the second.

3-2 HC (3rd, 4:31, PP): Victoria Young sent a pass that ricocheted off the glass and bounced out to Katie MacCuaig who ripped a shot on net. Edmonds was there to collect the rebound and put the Crusaders within one.

3-3 HC (3rd, 14:53, EV): Their first even strength goal of the night, Beniek was able to gain control of a loose puck through a lot of traffic in front of Brenneman and lift it into the goal to tie things up for the Crusaders.
