STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's hockey team fell to No. 3 Northeastern, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at the Freitas Ice Forum.
Crawley put up five shots to lead the offensive effort for the Huskies with sophomores Danika Pasqua and Viki Harkness notching four shots of their own. Sophomore goaltender Samantha Carpentier-Yelle collected 27 saves in the loss. The Huskies fall to 12-11-1 overall and 9-7-1 in Hockey East play.
The game was scoreless until the 14' of the first period. Veronica Petty struck for the games first goal at 13:49, scoring on an assist from Jess Schyver off a give-and-go play. Schyver and Petty teamed up again at 17:27, giving Northeastern a 2-0 lead after scoring off a turnover.
Northeastern extended its lead with a goal late in the second period. The visitors pushed their lead to three after notching a short-handed goal at the 19:20 mark.
UConn came out firing in the third as they looked to slice into the deficit, peppering the Northeastern netminder with a dozen shots during the frame. The Huskies created several good scoring opportunities, including two on the doorstep, but were unable to get one across the goal line.
