ORONO, Maine - After an attempt to rally with a goal by Catherine Tufts with 6:21 remaining, the Black Bears couldn't quite catch up with Robert Morris (RMU) as they dropped the match, 2-1, on Friday night at the Alfond Arena.

The fans saw a defensive game on the ice in the first two periods, as both teams struggled to sneak the puck past the defenders. Maine goalie Carly Jackson turned away 12 shots to hold RMU scoreless into the third period, until 1:11 in when Amanda Pantaleo tucked away the puck off a pass from Maggie Lague to give the Colonials the first lead of the game, 1-0.

Halfway through the final period, Lague grabbed her second assist of the night after sending the puck up to Amber Rennie who helped Brittany Howard give the Colonials a 2-0 lead with 9:10 left on the clock.

Tufts' goal in the third fired up the Black Bears, as they began ripping shots left and right, outshooting the Colonials 7-to-5. Both Kristin Gilmour and Anna Zikova tallied their first assists of the season from Tufts first goal of the year.

RMU goaltender Elija Milne-Price earned the win, stopping 15 total shots for her second win this season. On the opposite end of the ice, Jackson also accumulated 15 saves.

The Black Bears look to avenge the loss as they return to the Alfond Arena tomorrow, October 14, as Maine's homecoming weekend kicks into action. Puck drop is at 1:00 p.m.
