PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 16 Providence College men's hockey team was unable to overcome an early 3-0 deficit as Boston University earned a 6-4 win on Saturday night (Jan. 9) at Schneider Arena.

NOTES
-Ty Amonte secured an early lead for the Terriers with a re-direct off a shot by David Farrance. Ferrance followed up Amonte's goal less than a minute later on the power play. Jay O'Brien netted another power-play goal 2:21 later to give the Terriers a 3-0 lead.
-Uula Ruikka put the Friars on the board on a 5-on-3 power play with 7:36 remaining in the opening stanza. Ruikka was assisted by Michael Callahan and Parker Ford on his second goal of the season.
-Tyce Thompson followed Ruikka's lead with a goal 40 seconds later, also on the power play bringing the score to 3-2. Thompson was assisted by Ben Mirageas and Jason O'Neill on the play.
-BU's Logan Cockerill rounded out an action packed first with a breakaway goal shorthanded, sending the Terriers into the first intermission with a 4-2 lead.
-Craig Needham put the Friars back within a goal, 4-3, 4:23 into the middle stanza. Needham rushed down the left wing and wired a shot to the top right corner.
-Boston University responded with the game-winning goal three minutes later by Markus Boguslavsky after he tipped home a shot from Alex Vlasic.
-Providence's Matt Koopman scored the final Friars goal of the night with assists by Craig Needham and Ben Mirageas with 5:44 to go in the second period. The goal was Koopman's third of the season and served as Mirageas' third assist of the night.
-The final period was scoreless at 5-4 until BU's Logan Cockerill put in an empty-netter with 1.5 seconds to go.
