Senior forward Logan Hutsko earned his 100th career point for the Eagles

BOSTON - Spencer Knight stopped 34 of the 35 Merrimack shots he faced on Saturday night and No. 3 Boston College held off the Warriors for a 2-1 Hockey East victory at Kelley Rink.

Freshmen Eamon Powell and Danny Weight each scored their first collegiate goals for the Eagles, who improved to 7-2-0 on the year and won their fifth straight overall against Merrimack (1-6-0).

With a primary assist on the game's opening goal 90 seconds into the first, Logan Hutsko became the 83rd member of the program's 100-point club. Hutsko tied the team-lead with his 10th point of the year, giving him 40 goals and 60 assists in 110 career games.

Knight pushed his unblemished record this season to 6-0-0 and extended his personal unbeaten streak to 15 games (14-0-1) dating back to last season. The sophomore made a lunging right pad save in the last minute of regulation and three more saves inside the final 30 seconds to preserve the three points.

BC's penalty kill successfully killed off a five-minute major against Trevor Kuntar midway through the third period. The Eagles couldn't convert on their lone power play chance.

Junior Jack St. Ivany collected his first point as an Eagle with an assist on Weight's tally, which proved to be the game-winner.

SCORING SUMMARY

- Jack McBain tipped a stretch pass to Hutsko, who cut back in the left corner before finding Powell on the weak side for a low, short-side finish from the rookie.

- Weight's initial effort from the top of the right wing circle was kicked out by Zachary Borgiel, but Colby Ambrosio tipped the puck back into the slot and Weight finished into an open net.

- During a net-front scramble on a Warrior power play, Zach Vinnell snuck in from the left point and whacked the puck off Knight's right pad inside the near post.
