BELFAST, Northern Ireland - Picking up his first shutout as a Husky, Craig Pantano led the No. 12 Northeastern men's hockey (9-4-2, 6-3-1 Hockey East) to a 4-0 win over conference rival New Hampshire (6-6-1, 3-4-0 Hockey East) this afternoon in game one of the 2019 Friendship Four. With the victory, the Huskies extended their most recent win streak against the Wildcats to six-consecutive games and posted a season-high four straight wins.
Four different Huskies - Ryan Shea, Zach Solow, TJ Walsh and John Picking - tallied goals in tonight's conference clash, with senior Ryan Shea posting a team-high three points on the night off a goal and two assists. The Milton, Mass. native was the first to strike in Northeastern's offensive campaign, firing in his first goal of the season at 6:43 in the second off the pass from Matt Filipe and Neal Shea to give Northeastern an early 1-0 lead. Solow continued the Huskies' scoring success late in the second, redirecting a shot from Ryan Shea past the shoulder of Wildcat goalie Mike Robinson to send Northeastern into the third with a 2-0 advantage.
Securing the win with a pair of third period goals, freshman Walsh went five-hole from the doorstep to move the Huskies to 3-0, before Picking called game with a tipped shot at 10:07 to send Northeastern to the championship game.
The Huskies are set to face the winner of this evening's ECAC matchup between Princeton and Colgate tomorrow night. Puck drop for the final is set for 7 p.m.
