Junior forward Eduards Tralmaks scored two goals and an assist for the Black Bears

HAMDEN, Conn. - Eduards Tralmaks, Mitchell Fossier, and Jeremy Swayman led the University of Maine men's ice hockey team to a 4-2 victory over #8/#10 Quinnipiac on Friday night.

First Goal (Maine 1-0): Eduards Tralmaks found the back of the net for the Black Bears in the first period. The forward made a diving attempt at the loose puck after Levi Kleiboer forced a turnover in Quinnipiac's end. The two teamed up for the only goal of the first period. Maine led the Bobcats, 1-0, after 20:00.

Second Goal (Maine 2-0): Much like the Black Bears' first goal of the evening, Tralmaks fought his way through the defense and dove. JD Greenway had the initial shot that was saved by Keith Petruzzelli of the Bobcats. The forward from Riga, Lativa dove from behind the net and gave his squad a 2-0 lead early into the second period.

Third Goal (Maine 2-1): Just over one minute later, Joe O'Connor scored Quinnipiac's first goal of the night. The tally was the result of an odd man rush for the Bobcats. Less than two minutes into the period, both teams had found a goal.

Fourth Goal (2-2): Wyatt Bongiovanni tied the non-conference matchup at two goals apiece with a power play goal halfway through the middle 20:00. With Jeremy Swayman's view blocked by the Bobcats' unit, Bongiovanni had little trouble finding the back of the Maine net.

Fifth Goal (3-2 Maine): After a lengthy review, Tim Doherty's goal was upheld, while Quinnipiac's potential goal was confirmed to be a no goal. The Black Bears took advantage of a 3-on-2 break. Fossier's saved shot, as was the case with Maine's goal earlier in the period, directly led to Maine's third goal of the bout.

Sixth Goal (4-2 Maine): Adam Dawe provided late insurance for his squad when he scored on a power play with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game. The sophomore forward found his way to the front of the net, waiting patiently, and capitalized when he corralled the loose puck.

Dawe's goal was the final of the night as the Black Bears held on to defeat the Bobcats, 4-2.

Notes: Jeremy Swayman finished with 31 saves, while Keith Petruzzelli tallied 14 for Quinnipiac.

Maine went 2-4 on the power play, as the Bobcats were 1-6 on their man advantages.

The Black Bears blocked 15 shots as a team.

Next: The Black Bears and Bobcats will do battle once again tomorrow, October 19th. Puckdrop is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
