WHAT HAPPENED

The River Hawks got on the board at 4:16 of the first period as John Edwardh notched his tenth goal of the season. The play started with Joe Gambardella picking up the puck in the neutral zone and finding Edwardh who fired a shot past Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) into the net from just outside the crease.

UMass Lowell took a 2-0 lead at 10:16 of the first stanza as Jake Kamrass scored his eighth goal of the year. Dylan Zink fed the puck from the corner to the right of Tirone to C.J. Smith at the point. Smith fired a shot that deflected off Kamrass through traffic and into the net.

The Wildcats got on the board at 7:07 of the second period as freshman forward Brendan van Riemsdyk (Middletown, N.J.) redirected a shot by Nick Nonis (Hampton Falls, N.H.) into the net. Rookie Patrick Grasso (Ankeny, Iowa) dished the puck to Nonis at the point who found the tape of van Riemsdyk's stick for the deflection.
