ORONO, Maine -- Maine Men's Ice Hockey team falls to UMass Lowell 6-0, Sunday evening at Alfond Arena.

With the loss Maine falls to 0-8-3 on the season and 0-4-0 in Hockey East. UMass Lowell improves to 8-1-2 overall and 4-0-2 in Hockey East.

Rob McGovern received the start for the Black Bears in net, while Kevin Boyle started in goal for the River Hawks.

UMass Lowell struck for the first goal of the game off of a rebound, Ryan Dmowski gave the River Hawks a 1-0 lead.

Seconds later, Michael Louria scored UMass Lowell's second goal of the game to gain a 2-0 advantage.

Maine was called for the first penalty of the game a tripping call which gave the River Hawks a power play opportunity. Eight minutes into the first, UMass Lowell struck again. This time from C.J. Smith and gave the River Hawks a commanding 3-0 lead.

Three minutes later, UMass Lowell scored their fourth goal of the game from Adam Chapie, The River Hawks lead 4-0.

Matt Morris replaced McGovern in net.

In the first period, Maine outshot UMass Lowell 12-11.

The River Hawks opened the second period by scoring their fifth unanswered goal from Gage Hough to open a 5-0 lead.

Maine was able to go on two power play opportunities in the second firing off five shots but were unable to capitalize.

In the third, UMass Lowell scored 1:47 into the period. Michael Louria scored his second of the game giving the River Hawks a 6-0 lead.

The Black Bears had two power play opportunities in the third period as well and had eight shots on net but weren't able to convert.

Matt Morris finished with 23 saves, while Kevin Boyle finished with 38.

The Black Bears return to action on Friday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. against Hockey East opponent Vermont.
