ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine Men's Ice Hockey team defeated Princeton 3-2 in overtime to sweep the weekend series against the Tigers. The Black Bears improve their win streak to four games, the last time Maine had a four game win streak was in 2013-2014.

With the win, Maine is now 4-8-3 on the season and Princeton falls to 2-8-0.

Matt Morris received his fourth straight start in goal and Colton Phinney started in net for the Tigers.

The Black Bears opened with the first goal of the game midway through the first period from Blaine Byron. Steven Swavely collected the assist on the goal to give the Black Bears a 1-0 advantage.

Matt Morris held the Tigers scoreless in the first period stopping eight shots as Maine outshot Princeton 17-8 in the first.

Two minutes into the second, Maine was whistled for a hooking penalty. Princeton fired just two shots on net during the power play as the Black Bears were able to kill off the penalty.

Maine had a pair of power play chances in the second period and attacked the net, shooting eight on goal.

With just under three minutes remaining, Dan Renouf scored off of a Cam Brown and Rob Michel assist to convert on the power play opportunity and gave the Black Bears a 2-0 lead heading into the second intermission.

Matt Morris kept Princeton scoreless again, stopping 13 shots in the second.

Just six minutes into the third period, Princeton broke through for their first goal of the game on an even strength goal by Max Veronneau to bring the score 2-1 Maine.

Princeton was then able to tie the game with less than five minutes remaining in the period, Ryan Kuffner, netted the Tigers' second goal to tie the game at 2-2.

Maine and Princeton headed into overtime tied 2-2, with Maine outshooting Princeton 46-32.

:48 seconds into overtime Princeton was called for a slashing penalty. Maine went on the power play and shot three on net but the Tigers killed off the penalty.

Eight seconds after the power play was killed, Blaine Byron scored his second goal of the game to give the Black Bears the win. Cam Brown and Dan Renouf had assists on the game winning goal.

Matt Morris finished with 31 saves, while Colton Phinney finished with 47.

Maine returns to action on Dec. 4 as they take on Hockey East rival UNH with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
