BOSTON - Skylar Fontaine posted a goal and an assist, while Aerin Frankel made 32 saves to earn her third shutout of the season to lead No. 4 Northeastern (5-1-1, 5-1-1 HEA) to a 4-0 win over No. 7 Providence (7-2-1, 7-2-1 HEA) on Tuesday evening inside Matthews Arena. Frankel pushed her all-time school records to in wins and shutouts to 63 and 23, respectively.
The Huskies came into the first period with their sticks firing outshooting the Friars 13-7. Fontaine and Peyton Anderson each scored goals only 25 seconds apart in the second period advancing the Huskies to a 2-0 lead. Chloe Aurard and Andrea Renner both notched third period goals on breakaways finishing off the game as the Huskies cruised to a four-goal victory over the seventh-ranked Friars. Helpers for the night were posted by Brooke Hobson, Alina Mueller, Fontaine and Abbey Marohn.
The fourth-ranked Huskies will host the Holy Cross Crusaders on Jan. 22 inside Matthews Arena at 4 p.m with streaming available via College Sports Live.
