Senior goaltender Aerin Frankel made 21 saves to earn her 21st career shutout for the Huskies

BOSTON - Aerin Frankel tops the charts for the all-time school record with her 21st career shutout after earning two during this series sweep against Maine. Chloe Aurard scored her first goal of the season to lead No. 3 Northeastern (3-1-0, 3-1-0 HEA) to a 1-0 win over the Black Bears (4-4-0, 4-4-0 HEA) on Monday inside Matthews Arena. Frankel made 21 saves in the game as the Huskies outshot Maine, 41-21.

With a scoreless first period, the Huskies were able to hold Maine from scoring off the first power play of the game and the lone man advantage of the period. With 22 shots firing off the Huskies' sticks during the second period, the Black Bears' Loryn Porter stayed strong between the pipes holding the game scoreless after two periods of play. Aurard found an opening early in the third period and secured a top-shelf goal from Ani FitzGerald.

Frankel surpasses former Northeastern standout Erika Silva's 20 shutouts from 1997-2001 over 98 games. A native of Briarcliffe Manor, N.Y., Frankel reached the milestone in just 88 games for the Huskies.

Northeastern will take on New Hampshire Friday afternoon inside Matthews Arena at 4 p.m. The game will be televised on NESN.
