PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College's Maureen Murphy (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored the game-tying goal with 1:15 remaining in the third period to push a 2-2 result against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Schneider Arena.

GAME FLOW & NOTES

- Chloe Gonsalves (Toronto, Ontario) put the Friars in front 8:48 into the first period. Whitney Dove (Port Moody, British Columbia) played the puck to Gonsalves at the top of the slot, who slid it across to Bailey Burton (Bloomington, Minn.) at the top of the right circle, Burton returned the puck to Gonsalves who put a wrister on net that got by the screened goaltender.

-The goal marked Gonsalves' first of the season and third of her career. Dove picked up her team-high fifth assist of the season, while Burton tallied her second career assist.

- Penn State struck twice within the final 30 seconds of the first period to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. The first goal came on a power play after Delaney Couture (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was called for cross-checking. The Nittany Lions passed the puck across the blue line to Brooke Madsen, who finished a wrist shot from the top of the right circle.

- Natalie Heising buried the second goal for Penn State just 20 seconds later. Brooke Madsen passed the puck up the boards to Shea Nelson. Nelson slid a pass across the crease that Heising got by Clare Minnerath (Sartell, Minn.).

- The second period was scoreless despite Providence holding a 12-5 advantage in shots.

- Providence found the equalizer on their fifth power play opportunity of the afternoon in the third period. Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) put a slap shot on net that trickled to Maureen Murphy (Buffalo, N.Y.) on the crease. Murphy slid the puck past the goaltenders outstretched leg on the far post to force overtime.

- The goal marked Murphy's fourth of the season and 45th of her career. Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) picked up her second assist of the year and Hjalmarsson tallied her second as well.

- The Friars outshot the Nittany Lions in the overtime period, 2-1.

- Minnerath recorded 15 saves in net and now holds a 2-2-2 record on the season.
