NORTH ANDOVER, Mass - The Merrimack women's ice hockey team earned a non-conference win against the Brown Bears on Wednesday, taking a Mikyla Grant-Mentis hat trick to a 4-3 victory. The Warriors out-possessed the Bears, with a 28 to nine shot differential in the final two periods.

How It Happened
- Merrimack scored the opener of the night on a goal by Grant-Mentis, on her way to a hat trick. Grant-Mentis followed a shot from the half boards by freshman Lauren Mac Lean and pushed in the rebound for her 13th goal of the season.
- Brown pulled even at 17:22 of the first, but Merrimack took the lead in the final seconds of the period as Keisha DiCaire threw a long backhanded pass across the slot for Grant-Mentis' second of the night.
- The Warriors added a third on the power play by Courtney Maud, who worked to clear space down low and fire in a deflection of Grant-Mentis' shot from the point at 2:24 in the second.
- Brown brought the game close again with a goal just three minutes later to make it 3-2 at 5:47 of the second.
- Grant-Mentis earned her hat trick on the power play at 17:47 of the second, walking into the slot and whistling a rising shot over that tucked under the crossbar for her 16th goal of the year.
- Brown responded 56 seconds later to bring the game to a 4-3 Warriors lead. Merrimack commanded the third period, outshooting the visitors 12-4 in the final 20 minutes.

- MacLean's assist on the Grant-Mentis' first tally of the night was the first point in the rookie's Merrimack career.
- Grant-Mentis' goal extended her point scoring streak to 11 games for 25 points this year, as she extended her lead in Hockey East goal scoring with 16.
- Junior Dominika Laskova had a two-point night, earning helpers on Courtney Maud's power play goal and Grant-Mentis' goal in the third. Keisha DiCaire also had a pair of points in the game, assisting on the game's first two goals.
