Senior forward Tereza Vanišová scored at 4:26 of overtime for the Black Bears

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey grabbed a win against the Eagles of Boston College in overtime, 2-1.

Maine would find themselves up 1-0 early in the game. At the 5:24 mark of the first period, Ida Kuoppala continued her strong rookie season with her 17th goal of the season. Maddie Giordano (6) and Daria Tereshkina (4) picked up assists on the play.

Both teams would find themselves locked in a tight battle through the second period, where both goaltenders would blank the opposition. Kelly Pickreign picked up nine saves in the period while Carly Jackson registered 13 saves in the period.

The Eagles would find the score board early into the third period. Kelly Browne scored her 24th goal of the season to knot the game at 1-1. Caroline DiFiore (7) and Hannah Bilka (21) picked up the assists on the goal.

Maine would find themselves with an exciting finish, as on senior day, all-time points leader Tereza Vanisova stole a puck at center ice and would fire home her final shot in Alfond Arena, giving the Black Bears the 2-1 victory in overtime.

Pickreign finished with 30 saves in the losing effort. Carly Jackson picked up 35 saves in her final appearance in Alfond Arena.

Maine, who moves back to .500 at 13-13-7, 9-11-6 HEAW will be traveling to Vermont for the final regular season matchup against the Catamounts. That matchup will occur on Saturday, February 22 at 4:00 P.M.
