Senior Samantha Ridgewell earned her second shutout of the season for the Warriors

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team fell to Merrimack College, 5-0, Saturday evening at the Hart Center Rink.

Freshman goaltender Jada Brenon made 31 saves in the contest, but it wasn't enough to get by the Warriors. Junior Rachel Moore paced the Crusaders registering four shots in the contest. Senior Julie Matthias and sophomore Antonia Matzka each had three.


1-0 MC (1st, 00:47, EV): Jessica Bonfe got things started for the Warriors before a minute had elapsed.

2-0 MC (1st, 19:17, EV): The Crusaders settled down and played a very solid 18 minutes after the first goal, but the final minute of the period gave them issues just like the first. Kate Bukolska made it 2-0.

3-0 MC (1st, 19:48, PP): Merrimack added another in the first period on a power play thanks to Paige Voight.

4-0 MC (2nd, 11:49, PP): The Crusaders only allowed one goal in the second period and it came at the hands of Katelyn Rae just a little over half way through the frame.

5-0 MC (3rd, 10:51, EV): The scoring was capped halfway through the final period when Merrimack's Felila Manu found the back of the net.


- Holy Cross was outshot, 36-21.

- The Crusaders were called on six penalties to the Warriors' four.


Holy Cross will host Northeastern next Friday, Nov. 2 before traveling to Maine on Sunday, Nov. 4.
