PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's ice hockey team tied the University of Vermont Catamounts, 1-1, on Nov. 13. Providence moves to 6-7-1 and 3-3-1 in Hockey East and Vermont moves to 3-5-2 and 2-2-2 in Hockey East.

The Friars took a 1-0 lead with 2:11 remaining in the opening period. Rachel Rockwell (Broadview Heights, Ohio) took a shot from the point that Christina Putigna (Grimsby, Ontario) picked up in the far corner. Putigna flipped the puck to Brooke Boquist (Thunder Bay, Ontario) in the slot, who took a one-timer that beat Vermont's Madison Litchfield.

Vermont evened the score in the second period with an unassisted tally from Bridget Baker at 4:23.

Neither team scored in the third period, pushing the game into overtime. Providence and Vermont played five extra minutes and the game concluded in a 1-1 tie.

The Friars outshot the Catamounts 33-31. Madison Myers (Colchester, Vt.) made 30 saves in the game.

Putigna's assist marks her 13th point in the Friars last 11 games and Brooke Boquist notched her second goal in as many games.

Providence is back in action on Nov. 13 at Schneider Arena against New Hampshire at 2:00 p.m.
