ORONO, Maine - After a tough loss at Providence, the Black Bears were looking to bounce back against Vermont in what was a back and forth game, but in the end the Black Bears couldn't come up with the victory, falling to Vermont 3-2.

The first period was scoreless, seeing Maine and UVM with 8 and 10 shots on goal respectively, and two power play chances for Vermont to Maine's one.

The second period was dominated by the Catamounts who scored within the first 2 minutes of the period. Eve-Audrey Picard skated it into the offensive zone and as soon as she got to the goalie, Carly Jackson, passed it to a flanking Victoria Andreakos, who knocked it in 1:51 into the 2nd period to give UVM a 1-0 lead. The score would remain 1-0 until 11:46 into the period when Vermont converted on a power play chance from Amanda Drobot, giving UVM a 2-0 lead going into the second intermission. Maine had 2 power play opportunities in the period.

Maine came out firing on all cylinders in the third period, scoring 2 goals in 5 minutes. The first goal came 1:21 into the period as Brooke Stacey took the feed from Morgan Sakundiak to cut the lead to 1. Then 4:10 into the period Maine would get the equalizer as Tereza Vanisova from behind the net found Morgan Sakundiak right out in front for the tying goal. The tie would not last, though, as 5:25 into the period Vermont's Eve-Audrey Picard made a long cross-ice pass from behind Maine's goal line to out past Carly Jackson, finding Kourtney Menches who beat Jackson near side to give Vermont the game-winning goal, 3-2.

Maine out-shot the Catamounts 29-24 in the game; Vermont Goaltender Madison Litchfield saved 27 of those 29, with a win her record is now 2-1-1. Carly Jackson made 21 saves in the loss facing 24 shots, her record now 1-6-0.

Maine is back in action this Saturday as they face Northeastern at 2pm in Boston, and they return home November 11th and 12th to face BU at 2pm both days.
