ORONO, Maine- The Maine Women's Ice Hockey team picked up two more points on Saturday afternoon as they took another game from the Northeastern University Huskies at Alfond Arena.

Scoring came early and often for the Black Bears, beginning with a score by Junior Jessica Vallotton, from outside of the offensive zone, at 13:35 into the first period. Assists on the goal came from Sophomore Allyson Matteau and Sophomore Cailey Hutchison. Exactly six minutes later, Junior Brooke Stacey added an unassisted goal for a period ending score of 2-0.

The Black Bears did not disappoint in the second as Freshman Tereza Vanisova netted another one at the 7:19 mark. The goal was assisted by Junior Catherine Tufts and Matteau. The period ended in a score of 3-0.

Northeastern made a push in the third, beginning with a goal by Kasidy Anderson 1:12 in to the period, assisted by Halle Silva and Shelby Herrington. Matteau quickly bought some insurance, scoring at 3:10. She was assisted by Stacey. Northeastern struck two more times, both goals being scored by Denisa Krizova (10:23, 10:35). The first was assisted by Matti Hartman and Codie Cross. Cross had the lone assist on the second. Tufts got on the scoreboard again, adding a Maine goal. The goal was assisted by Matteau. Senior Emilie Brigham closed out scoring with an empty netter, assisted by Freshman goaltender, Carly Jackson.

The Black Bears added four points on the weekend as they swept the Huskies, who were ranked #2 in the conference prior to the series.

Maine returns to action on Friday, January 20, when they will take on conference rival the University of New Hampshire Wildcats in Durham, New Hampshire. This will be the first of a two-game weekend series. Puck drop is 7pm. They return to Alfond Arena the following weekend, where they will host conference opponent Providence College in a weekend series.
