HAMILTON, N.Y. - Sophomore goaltender Hilary Cashin (Fredericton, New Brunswick) recorded a career-high 32 saves, but the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team was defeated 3-1 by Colgate University at the Class of 1965 Arena on Sunday afternoon.

The Raiders completed the two-game, season-opening series sweep of the Wildcats following Saturday's 4-2 victory.

GAME RECAP

- Following a scoreless first period, Breanne Wilson-Bennett gave the home team a 1-0 lead at 3:36 of the middle stanza.

- Jessie Eldridge struck at 7:54 of the third period to extend the advantage to 2-0.

- UNH trimmed the deficit to one goal on an unassisted goal by sophomore forward Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.) at 11:38, but Shelby Perry scored 46 seconds later to reestablish a two-goal margin.

- Cashin was pulled in favor of an extra skater with 1:51 remaining in regulation, but the Raiders limited UNH to one shot - by Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) - the rest of the way to secure the win.

- Cashin, who totaled 37 saves in three games last year as a freshman, made 14 saves in the first period and 13 in the second as part of her 32-save effort.

- Colgate goalie Julia Vandyk tallied double-digit saves all three periods (10-13-10) to finish with 33 overall.
