ORONO, Me. - Maine and Union played game 2 of their weekend series at Alfond Arena Saturday afternoon which ended in a 2-2 tie.

The first goal was scored by Maine while on a Union power play; Alyson Matteau scored on a breakaway down a skater 10:12 into the first period, assisted by Audra Richards and Emilie Brigham. Maine led 1-0.

Later on that same power play Union answered back with a shot from the point by Elizabeth Otten, assisted by Brandy Street and Kathryn Tomaselli. The score would remain 1-1 at the end of the first period.

Maine would re-take the lead in the 2nd period on an unassisted goal by Brooke Stacey, a shot from the point that ricocheted off of a Union player and in. Maine held on to lead 2-1 after 2 periods.

Union answered back midway through the third as Elli Devins scored from Jamie Smith to knot the game up at 2-2, and after 5 extra minutes, that became the final score.

Union goaltender Melissa Black saved 29 of the 31 shots she faced, her record is now 0-10-5 on the season. For Maine, Meghann Treacy saved 30 of 32 she faced, bringing her record to 6-11-1.

The Black Bears end their calender year with this series, and are back in action January 9th and 10th against UVM; puck drop both days is at 2pm.
