STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's ice hockey team battled back to defeat New Hampshire 4-3 in an unbelievable triple overtime win on Saturday to sweep the Wildcats in game two and advance to the Hockey East semifinals.

Senior goaltender Elaine Chuli (Waterford, Ont.) shattered her single-game saves record, stopping 69 pucks in over 101 minutes of action.

UNH took a 1-0 lead after scoring a power play goal late in the first period. The Wildcats extended their lead with another power play goal 6:18 into the second period.

UConn answered with a power play goal of its own 7:42 into the second period. Sophomore Theresa Knutson (Onalaska, Wis.) buried a rebound to cut UNH's lead in half, 2-1. Sophomore Justine Fredette (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and junior Kelly Harris (Canton, Mich.) took credit on the assists.

The Wildcats reclaimed a two-goal lead early in the third period, making it 3-1 2:09 into the final frame. Five minutes later, UConn sophomore Leah Lum (Richmond, B.C.) went top shelf to bring the Huskies within one goal, making it 3-2 with well over ten minutes to play.

With less than two minutes on the clock, UConn pulled Chuli to take a 6-on-5 advantage. Senior Leah Buress (Windsor, Ont.) sent the game into overtime, scoring the game-tying goal with 41 seconds on the clock.

The first 20 minute overtime period remained scoreless, forcing a second overtime period. Chuli stood on her head, stopping all 21 shots UNH rifled at her in the first overtime period.

Despite two power play opportunities for both the Huskies and Wildcats, the second overtime period came and went with no game-winner. UNH outshot UConn 16-10 in the second overtime period, but the score remained 3-3 after 100 minutes of play and the game went into a third overtime.

Buress finally ended it three minutes into the third overtime period, to give the Huskies the final 4-3 victory.
