ORONO, Maine-The University of Maine Women's ice hockey team closed its series against Robert Morris with a 1-0 loss this Saturday afternoon. Maine falls to 2-1-0 on the season, while RMU goes to 1-3-0.
Meghann Treacy (Lake Peekskill, New York) and Courtney Vinet kept the game scoreless throughout the first and second period. Rikki Meilleur broke the tie with her first goal of the season at 8:16 in the third period. Katie Fergus and Katherine Murphy assisted on the goal.
Vinet had 18 saves for RMU and improved to 1-1-0, where Treacy had 24 for the Black Bears and falls to 2-1-0. Maine was 0-4 on the power play, while RMU finished 0-2.
Maine returns to action Saturday October 10th against Mercyhurst at the Alfond Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
