ORONO, Maine --- The University of Maine women's ice hockey team closed its two game home stand with a 2-1 overtime loss against Providence College at Alfond Arena Sunday afternoon. Maine falls to 5-8-2 on the season, while Providence improves to 2-11-3.

Meghann Treacy (Lake Peakskill, New York) and Allie Morse kept the game scoring throughout the first two periods despite 39 combined shots on goal and three penalty chances.

Beth Hanrahan gave the Friars a 1-0 lead in the third period at (12:33) on a put back goal. Brooke Simpson and Lexi Romanchuk each assisted on the play.

The Black Bears evened the scored at (15:37) with a goal from Morgan Sakundiak (Calgary, Alberta). Sakundiak tipped home a rebound from Jillian Langtry's shot. Kelsey MacSorley (Stratford, Ontario) was also credited with an assist.

The game-winning goal did not come until overtime when Beth Hanrahan scored a short-handed goal at (4:43). Alli Micheletti had the assist on the game winning play.

Meghann Treacy saved 31 of 33 shots on goal, while Allie Morse saved 32 of 33 shots on goal. The Black Bears were 0-4 o the power play, and Providence had one goal in two opportunities.

The Black Bears return to action November 29th at Vermont. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
