ORONO, Maine --- The University of Maine women's ice hockey team opened its two game home stand with against Providence College at Alfond Arena Saturday afternoon. Maine

The Black Bears did not waste anytime scoring their first goal of the game. Hailey Browne (Oakville, Ontario) beat the Providence College goalie glove side for a power play goal at (19:12) in the first period. Audra Richards (Maplewood, Minnesota) and Jillian Langtry (Fort Frances, Ontario) each assisted on the scoring play.

Maine started the scoring in the second period with a goal at (14:57) from Jennifer More (Deloraine, Manitoba) to put the Black Bears up 2-0. More tipped home a rebound off Brooke Stacey's (Kahnawake, Quebec) shot. Emilie Brigham (Anoka, Minnesota) also had an assist on the goal.

Providence got on the board with a goal from Beth Hanrahan at (15:55). Liv Halvorson and Victoria Virtue both chipped in with an assist.

Jennifer More continued in her scoring way with a power play goal at 9:51 in the third period to give Maine the 3-1 lead. Audra Richards had her second assist of the day on More's goal.

Providence added a late goal from Hailey Frade to climb within one. Halvorson and Hanrahan each had an assist on the goal.

Meghann Treacy (Lake Peakskill, New York) saved 29 of 31 shots on goal, while Allie Morse saved 35 of 38 shots on goal. The Black Bears were 2-6 on the power play, and Providence had zero goals in two opportunities.

The Black Bears return to action November 23 at the Alfond Arena against Providence College. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
