ORONO, Maine-The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey team opened its two game home stint with a 1-0 loss against #7 Mercyhurst at Alfond Arena Friday evening. Maine falls to 2-2-0 on the season, while Mercyhurst improves to 3-0-0.

Mercyhurst took an early 1-0 lead at 8:21 in the opening period when Sarah Robello beat Maine goalie Meghann Treacy (Lake Peekskill, New York) on a breakaway. Jenna Dingeldein picked up an assist on the goal for the Lakers.

Neither team scored in the second or third period despite 40 combined shots. Each team was 0-4 on the power play. Treacy had 41 saves in a losing effort, while Amanda Makela saved 25 shots for the Lakers.

Maine returns to action when it host #7 Mercyhurst on Saturday October 11th at Alfond Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
