ORONO, Me. - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team lost to #1 Boston College 8-1 at the Alfond Arena Friday evening. Maine falls to 7-9-2 on the season, while Boston College improves 16-0-1.

Maine opened the scoring in the first period with a scrum in front of the goal at (14:20). Brooklyn Langlois (Steinbach, Minnesota) fired a high shot that Katie Burt stopped with her shoulder, but Jillian Langtry (Fort Frances, Ontario) crashed the net and stuffed the rebound home for her first goal of the season. Emilie Brigham (Anoka, Minnesota) picked up the secondary assist on the play.

Three minutes later the Eagles equalized with their first goal of the day. Lexi Bender ripped a slap shot from the blue line at (17:15) on a pass from Tori Sullivan. Emily Pfalzer also assisted Bender's even strength goal.

Boston College controlled the majority of the play in the second by scoring four unanswered goals. Kristyn Cpizzano, Emily Field, Haley Skarupa, and Alex Carpenter each had a goal in the second period. Andie Anastos, Emily Pfalzer, Kenzie Kent, Emily Field, and Alex Carpenter, respectively, all were credited with an assist in the period.

The Eagles did not let up in the third period. Megan Keller, Haley Skarupa, and Dana Trivigno each added a goal to expand their lead to 8-1. Dana Trivigino, Toni Ann Miano, Kenzie Kent, and Kate Leary earned assists in the third.

Meghann Treacy (Lake Peakskill, New York) saved 26 of 33 shots on goal, and Mariah Fujimagari (Markham, Ontario), once substituted into the game, saved 4 of 5 shots on goal. Katie Burt saved 12 of 13 shots on goal for Boston College. The Black Bears were 0-2 on the power play, and Boston College had zero goals in two opportunities.

The Black Bears return to action December 12th at Union College. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
