STORRS, Conn. - Annie Belanger made a career-high 41 saves in a 6-0 loss to No. 1 Boston College on Saturday afternoon at Freitas Ice Forum. The loss drops the Huskies to 3-9-5 on the year and 0-5-2 in WHEA action, while the top-ranked Eagles stay unbeaten with a 13-0-1 record and a 9-0-0 mark in league play.

The contest marked UConn's eighth all-time against the No. 1 team in the nation, now 0-7-1 in such match-ups. Belanger (Sherbrooke, Quebec) was forced into a career-high save mark thanks to BC's 47-16 advantage in shots on goal, while Katie Burt stopped 16 shutouts to record a shutout for Boston College.

Theresa Knutson (Onalska, Wis.) led the Huskies with four shots on goal, while Caitlin Hewes (Stillwater, Minn.) and Sarah MacDonnell (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) combined to block 10 shots. The Huskies blocked 31 shots overall, but went 0-for-4 on the power play. The Eagles were 0-for-6 with the man advantage, but scored a pair of shorthanded goals in their victory.

After an even start, BC scored their first goal at 12:32 of the first stanza, an Alex Carpenter strike off assists from Haley Skarupa and Kenzie Kent. The Eagles got another in the first period at the 16:04 mark, with Andie Anastos connecting for a shorthanded goal to put BC up 2-0 after a frame.

Skarupa got on the scoresheet with a goal at 7:52 of the second, another shorthanded strike for the Eagles. Skarupa picked up another at 14:37 of the frame, and both of her tallies in the second were assisted by Emily Pfalzer.

In the third, BC struck at 6:36 and 9:43 with goals from Kaliya Johnson and Dana Trivigno. Pfalzer assisted on the final goal, giving her three helpers on the day in the 6-0 victory. Skarupa also finished with three points thanks to two goals and an assist.

The Huskies return to action for the 2014 Nutmeg Classic on Nov. 28 and 29 in Storrs. UConn takes on No. 5 Clarkson in first round action, while No. 4 Quinnipiac and Yale play in the other semifinal at Freitas Ice Forum.
