CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - No. 1 Boston College women's hockey (27-0-1, 18-0-0 WHEA) downed UConn (7-16-6, 1-10-1 WHEA), 6-0, Friday night at Kelley Rink. The Eagles, behind Katie Burt's seventh shutout of the season, remain unbeaten through 28 games.

BC put forth a two-goal effort in the opening frame to put the Huskies in a hole early. Midway through the first period, sophomore forward Andie Anastos found the back of the net on a shot near the post to put the Eagles up, 1-0.

Senior forward Kate Leary added on to the Boston College lead on a wraparound goal with four minutes left in the first. UConn could not respond, and the Eagles headed into the first intermission leading, 2-0.

The BC offense found more spark in the second period, compiling four goals to complete the victory.

The second line dominated the Huskies' zone, as linemates Emily Field and Tori Sullivan scored within the first six minutes of the middle stanza to extend the Eagles' lead to 4-0.

Anastos added her second goal of the game and senior defenseman Emily Pfalzer notched a power play goal as time expired in the second. After two periods, Boston College held on to a solid 6-0 lead over UConn.

After BC's offensive onslaught in the second, UConn pulled goaltender Elaine Chuli in favor of Annie Belanger in the final period. A five-penalty third frame yielded plenty of power play opportunities, but neither team could capitalize on its man advantages.

The Eagles won their 25th consecutive game, 6-0.

Notes:

The Huskies snapped junior forward Alex Carpenter's 25-game point streak. Freshman goaltender Katie Burt, with her seventh shutout of the season, now has sole possession of second place on BC's single-season shutout list. Burt recorded 19 saves while Boston College registered 40 shots on goalies Chuli and Belanger BC's second line of forwards (senior Emily Field, sophomore Andie Anastos, freshman Tori Sullivan) tallied 10 of the Eagles' 16 total points. Field, Anastos, and Sullivan all led Boston College with plus-four ratings on the night.

The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 10 vs. Harvard in the 37th Annual Beanpot Championship.
