Junior defenseman Brittany Huneke scored a power-play goal for the Black Bears

The University of Maine women's ice hockey team came back after being down 3-0 to tie Brown University on Saturday at Alfond Arena.

Brown came out fighting after falling to the Black Bears the night before 2-1.

The Bears struck first at 18:59 when Janice Yang scored her seventh goal of the season on a pass from Kaitlyn Keon.

Maine outshot Brown 13-7 in the first period.

Brooklyn Langlois was sent to the box for interference causing Brown to score their second goal of the game. Jennifer Neadow fired a slap shot in the back of the net at 6:36 in the second.

Brown's offense continued to dominate in the second period. Catherine Leboeuf knocked the puck by Maine goalie Mariah Fujimagari (Markham, Ontario) at 11:13 in the second period giving Brown a 3-0 lead.

The Black Bears started the comeback at 18:11 when Kelly McDonald (Ancaster, Ontario) found Brittney Huneke (Hastings, Minn.) who put a slap shot by Brown goalie Monica Elvin for her first goal of the season.

Maine outshot Brown 14-11 in the second period.

Brown entered the third period with a 3-1 lead over Maine.

Maine brought in goalie Meghann Treacy (Lake Peekskill, N.Y.) to finish the game. Brown switched goalies bringing in Micaela Ross.

Maine came out hot in the third period scoring two goals. The first came at 15:59 into the third when Audra Richards (Maplewood, Minn.) scored her fifth goal of the season on a pass from McDonald.

McDonald got her own goal just minutes later when she knocked the puck in the net from the corner on a pass from Karissa Kirkup (Virden, Manitoba) to tie the game at 18:38.

Maine outshot Brown 10-7 in the third.

Maine had two shots on goal in overtime while Brown only had one.

Brown goalie Monica Elvin finished with 23 saves and Micaela Ross stopped 13.

Fujimargari had 12 saves and Treacy finished the game with 11 saves.

Maine moves to a 1-12-5 on the season.

The Black Bears continue their season on the road to face Union College on December 13th.
