Sophomore forward Jennifer More had a goal and two assists for the Black Bears

Orono, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell to Union College at Alfond Arena Friday night by a score of 4-3. With the loss, the Black Bears fall to 2-13-1 on the season while the Dutchwomen improve to 4-9-3.

Union College got on the board first at 10:42 into the first period off the stick of Rebecca Babiak. Babiak was able to sneak one by the Black Bear goalie on the Kathryn Tomaselli assist.

Jennifer More (Deloraine, Manitoba) notched her third goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1 off the power play opportunity. More found the back of the net at 18:41 of the first period while Brittney Huneke (Hastings, Minnesota) picked up her second assist of the season and Tori Pasquariello (Mississauga, Ontario) tallied her first.

The second period saw little action until Pasquariello was able to sneak a timely placed puck passed the Union goalie for the 2-1 lead with 1:45 left of the period. This goal marks Pasquariello's fifth of the season. More gets credited with the assist on the even scoring opportunity, which marks her fourth of the season.

The Dutchwomen would take advantage of the power play opportunity as Courtney Turner tied the game at 2-2 just 4:14 into the third period. Stefanie Thomson and Alex Tancrell-Fontaine notched the assists on the goal. Jessica Kaminsky wasted little time as she beat the Black Bear goalie in a one-on-one chance from the right side at 4:56 for the 3-2 lead, Christine Valente and Turner picked up the assists on the goal.

Huneke would tie the game at 3-3 for her first goal of the season. Huneke's goal came at 12:59 of the third period from the right side as she smoked a one-timer just above the Union goalies glove. More picked up her fifth assist of the season while Kelsey MacSorley (Stratford, Ontario) notched her first.

Nicole Bartlett got the game-winning goal at 17:30 of the third period off the sticks of Babiak and Emma Rambo.

The Black Bears saw two goalies in the contest. Brittany Ott (St. Clair Shores, Michigan) picked up the loss while allowing three goals with 12 saves, marking her eighth loss of the season. Kylie Smith (Apple Valley, Minnesota) allowed one goal while saving three shots in 13:19 minutes of play.

Shenae Lundberg picked up the win for the Dutchwomen, allowing three goals with 37 saves. Lundberg sees her record improve to 3-6-3 on the season.

The Black Bears held a 40 to 19 shot advantage over the Dutchwomen. Union College went 1 for 4 on the power play while Maine went 1 for 6.

Maine returns to action on December 15 as it hosts Union College for game two action. Game time is slated for 2:00 PM. The Black Bears will travel to Brown on January 5 and 6 for a two game series. Game times are slated for 2:00 PM.
